We Watched "The Fall Guy"
Matt (00:01.02)
Hello and welcome back to popcorn and bladdles. I have to be super hyped up because that's what Spencer wants. Hype hype hype go go go Spencer Spencer Spencer.
Spencer (00:06.493)
Love
Luciano (00:09.188)
Why would you do that? Now you've spent all the energy you've had for the entire fucking
Matt (00:13.746)
I mean, I was still gonna crash into the ground energy -wise out of the way,
Spencer (00:16.231)
We either get it now for a little bit or none at all.
Luciano (00:20.527)
Or throughout. not at all!
Matt (00:20.806)
Never. Never. That's it. Without at all. Those are your two options. We have the usual cast of Misfits
Luciano (00:32.356)
I'm not a misfit. you talking about?
Matt (00:33.798)
Yeah, you are. Spencer.
Spencer (00:37.879)
I am a misfit. a, I'm the bad boy of this podcast.
Luciano (00:39.641)
No you're not.
Matt (00:43.542)
Sure. Chris has, abandoned, I'll hope you enter this podcast for, for reasons I will never understand again, but through, would call stupidity or, incompetence. my, my very own brother. Let me cook. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's not self -belief.
Luciano (00:43.735)
You're a boy alright.
Spencer (00:51.397)
He has forsaken us and God.
Luciano (00:53.517)
again.
Joel (01:02.969)
Wow. I call this ambush.
Spencer (01:04.117)
Naivete?
Luciano (01:06.318)
No, no, let him cook because this is self deprecation. Let him cook. fuck.
Matt (01:12.452)
My very own brother paid a hefty sum to a charity to join us for a podcast. unfortunately, it's this one. So welcome, Joel, to whatever it is we do
Spencer (01:19.239)
yeah!
Joel (01:27.237)
Thank you. I'm pretty sure I paid for it last year as well and you stiffed me on joining the podcast. this is, I'm glad I paid twice to charity. So great, great cause to join
Matt (01:36.23)
Listen, the charity needs a lot of money. Child's pay is very poor. SickKids famously has no money in Toronto. So it's at least you could do.
Spencer (01:37.368)
What a brother.
Spencer (01:46.523)
When Joel, when you paid to be on a podcast, did you know it was this podcast?
Joel (01:48.441)
Yeah,
Luciano (01:48.706)
That's it.
Joel (01:53.592)
No, I was I was sold a lie
Matt (01:55.858)
As evidenced by our three subscribers, he's never listened, so he has no idea what happens
Spencer (01:58.817)
Hehehehe, yeah.
Luciano (01:59.514)
True,
Spencer (02:02.277)
No, no, this is the Joe Rogan Experience. Welcome.
Luciano (02:06.02)
Well, I mean, sometimes.
Spencer (02:08.167)
It's just
Matt (02:09.296)
times it
Joel (02:10.499)
I just figured that Matt didn't want me to steal his thunder as the better conqueror, so that's why I never got the invite. Now that I've been here for a few minutes listening to you guys, it's obvious.
Matt (02:15.654)
There's nothing to steal. You can have it all.
Spencer (02:18.123)
You've already done
Spencer (02:23.309)
You've already done it. You've already done it. You've won. You can, yeah, you can leave.
Matt (02:25.234)
It's gone. It's gone. Congratulations. You're now in charge of this podcast. I recommend starting with the name of the movie you watched.
Luciano (02:29.988)
Hahaha!
Joel (02:30.281)
god.
Joel (02:36.239)
What the fall, guys?
Spencer (02:36.303)
No one cares what you think, old conker.
Luciano (02:38.648)
Yeah.
Matt (02:39.482)
you
Spencer (02:41.415)
You're old ooth.
Luciano (02:43.246)
The conqueror and the conquered.
Matt (02:45.289)
Okay Fall Guy is what I heard him say in between your nonsense. We did watch the Fall Guy 2024 I guess what are we going with? Iggy Starr vehicle? I guess he was there at the end so fine Lee Majors vehicle or that was that weird other woman that was there? I don't know she scared me
Luciano (02:47.95)
Yes.
Luciano (02:54.412)
Lee Majer's vehicle. No, Lee Majer, Lee Majer's vehicle.
Joel (02:59.503)
You was there.
Luciano (02:59.593)
Hahaha
Matt (03:09.65)
We're going with. He does not scare me. I don't like where this is headed. We're rejecting. We watched Fall Guy 2024 and we're going to talk about things we liked about this movie, starting with Spencer.
Spencer (03:09.777)
Winston Duke?
Luciano (03:12.954)
That's not a woman.
Spencer (03:24.111)
Hey, I liked, there's a couple of things I liked, but one thing I liked was the reoccurring bit of, I'm a big coffee lover and I really appreciated him never being able to get his cup of coffee throughout the film. Although I didn't really have a payoff, which is a little disappointing. They kind of just dropped it halfway through, which kind of bummed me out. Like he went to the bar at like halfway point and I thought he was going to try and order a coffee, but he ordered some drink.
Luciano (03:43.77)
True, yeah.
Spencer (03:53.531)
which was a little, and then he put his fist in the drink, remember? But I thought that would be a coffee, but you know what? It doesn't matter. I liked it while it was happening. It was pretty, it was funny. A lot of funny bits, but that one was, I liked the, that bit.
Matt (03:57.569)
yeah, yeah, the karaoke.
Luciano (04:08.41)
I liked that he did a roll with the coffee mug and he didn't spill it the first time. I was impressed.
Spencer (04:12.185)
Yeah. Yeah. That bit. I liked and I liked the part of the movie that made me laugh the most is when he was fighting the girl with the katana and she hit him through the glass and then he had a bunch of glass in his hoodie and he was shaking it out and it kept coming out. was like, that's like an airplane bit. It just was like so ridiculous. was that. Yeah, like it just when you thought it was done, it just kept going.
Matt (04:13.616)
Yep. Second time, however.
Luciano (04:15.96)
Yeah.
Matt (04:27.804)
Yeah.
Luciano (04:28.044)
It's like five minutes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Matt (04:33.067)
Yeah. He had all the glass in the entire apartment in his room.
Spencer (04:40.005)
like a possible large amount. that that was my favorite part of the
Matt (04:44.828)
All right, fair enough. Luciano, did you enjoy anything else?
Luciano (04:48.726)
Yeah, I actually liked the whole sort of like meta language of the movie with like them playing with movie stuff. So like the intro looking like it's like a stunt sheet and the movie script and you know, the calling like, don't don't wreck this. This is a product placement and immediately the GMC product placement. And I think my favorite scene, like outside of the action scenes was like the split screens.
when they talk about split screen and the split screen and they're narrating what's happening. It happens all throughout the movie, all until the end when they go 87 North to the rescue with 87 North is the stunt team and the production team of this movie. So I enjoyed the movie in general, but this sort of metal language was my favorite
Matt (05:14.822)
Yeah, yeah, that's pretty
Matt (05:32.848)
Yeah, that looks good. Joel, what do you have?
Joel (05:35.791)
I Emily Blunt, I'm not a big fan. I'd fight John Krasinski, you know, in a second, even if he was like Jack Ryan version, I'd fight him. yeah. I definitely would, but even if I took the Jack Ryan version, would do it for a chance at
Luciano (05:38.724)
fair.
Spencer (05:42.11)
And lose.
Luciano (05:42.125)
You
Spencer (05:45.472)
Wouldn't you rather fight the Jim Halpert version?
Matt (05:53.362)
What if you had to fight the monsters from the quiet place? you do that? Okay.
Joel (05:56.887)
I know, that's IMO. There are limits.
Luciano (05:57.058)
or read Richards.
Spencer (05:57.477)
Cause he's got them. He made those. He's got them in his basement.
Joel (06:01.945)
What's scarier, the monsters from the Quiet Place or the monsters from
Luciano (06:07.706)
Good question.
Spencer (06:07.793)
No, me and no one else has seen
Luciano (06:11.31)
I haven't even seen the quiet place
Joel (06:11.451)
I haven't seen that one either, but I just assume there's a big, big, big purple monster in IF. That's pretty cool. Yeah, exactly. That's it.
Matt (06:18.97)
Moving on! Let's move past that. I, yeah, no, I think the part I loved the most about the movie actually was when they give him the drug and he fights the guys in the club on the drug. I just thought it was like, I liked the creative use of like punching guys and the stars and the colors. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was nice when, I honestly thought that by the end of the fight, he would just have been like, imagine the entire thing because he was on drugs.
Spencer (06:19.65)
Yeah.
Joel (06:33.659)
the crackle and
Luciano (06:34.936)
It looked like Scott Pilgrim almost. Yeah, was very Scott Pilgrim dancing.
Joel (06:39.355)
That was good.
Spencer (06:45.092)
Me too.
Luciano (06:45.854)
Yeah.
Matt (06:46.64)
But the fact that it was real was pretty fun. So I rather enjoyed
Spencer (06:49.957)
I love a good, I love a good like drug scene where it happens and then it cuts back to the guy like doing it. He's just like, like if he was just like, know, yeah, yeah. Like famously in the tenacious D movie when he's like flying with Sasquatch and then it cuts him floating down a river and like high speed like that. I love that joke. Never get sick of
Matt (06:58.743)
Yeah, he's fighting no one in an alleyway kind of thing.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's always good. So this movie is titled based on like, what is it? 1960s TV show? 1980s?
Luciano (07:05.206)
Yeah.
Joel (07:21.787)
1980s starring Lee Majors and that's what yeah, it was the 1980s and Lee Majors was the star and that's why he's in this
Matt (07:27.474)
I know Lee Maders was the star of it, the six million dollar man.
Spencer (07:33.312)
I didn't know that was Lee Majors, when they came in at the end, like, those people are from the original TV show, whoever they
Luciano (07:33.754)
That... I
Joel (07:36.421)
Neither did I either.
Luciano (07:39.354)
I was, I looked at him when he came in and I was like, I know that who is that fucking like dried up raisin. Oh fuck it's Lee Major. He's like 107 or what?
Matt (07:48.146)
Peace.
Joel (07:48.381)
He did, yeah.
Matt (07:50.93)
He's cuz he was in he was in Scrooge you saw him there right? That's that's what happened He should it's good willy Well, he's that Scrooged he's the because he shows up as the majors at the very beginning of the movie because he's in a Christmas special where I Don't face the Santa thing here over the exact details
Luciano (07:56.194)
I didn't, I didn't write Scrooge.
Joel (07:59.525)
Was that him in that movie? Well.
Spencer (08:00.995)
And Scrooge are Scrooged.
Luciano (08:04.456)
okay.
Spencer (08:09.981)
Luciano (08:12.599)
He looks like a dried banana. That's what it looks like. It's all of the fruit.
Spencer (08:15.663)
I you said raisin. Stop switching your fruits.
Matt (08:15.856)
I mean, he's doing... Yeah.
Spencer (08:20.583)
All of the dried fruits.
Matt (08:20.678)
Well bananas aren't dried per se. Should you?
Joel (08:22.979)
Yeah, not really. can't.
Luciano (08:23.476)
You can dry them
Spencer (08:25.019)
but they don't get wrinkled.
Luciano (08:26.99)
They do. It's gross, but I'm to try them. No. Brazilian bananas aren't the same bananas in the rest of the earth.
Joel (08:29.167)
Maybe they're Brazilian bananas,
Matt (08:36.156)
That's not true. We can't be one banana for the entire universe. That would be insane. What if that strain gets killed by something? Then how we gonna get our bananas?
Spencer (08:39.151)
That's crazy
Luciano (08:44.619)
We don't, they all get killed because they're Hulk clones. Bananas, yes.
Spencer (08:46.953)
And this is what we come here to discuss to get the facts
Matt (08:51.036)
Banana Facts. This has been Banana Facts with Joel Luciano. Moving back to Fall Guy. You know, it's funny they titled it after that the 1980s TV shows I've learned because I don't think it has anything to do with that TV show. The Lee Majors show up at the beginning of the end of this movie. You know, it's just a movie about a stunt guy who has to do real life stunts
Spencer (08:52.711)
That's been for the head of X.
Joel (08:55.087)
Net
Matt (09:21.293)
find a guy?
Luciano (09:22.51)
Well, it's a pun, right? Because he is obviously the fall thing, but then he's also supposed to be the fall guy for Tom Ryder's murder and whatever. But it's like, it's very like, I was like, why is this movie? Because when I heard about it, I thought it was going to be just a pure like crime slash like a snatch sort of deal or something like that. Yeah, that's what I thought. So started to all the goofiness. I'm like, what am I watching?
Spencer (09:31.181)
That was a nice touch.
Spencer (09:43.729)
like action movie.
Spencer (09:49.925)
Yeah, it was way, way sillier than I was like way more of a comedy than I was expecting. Not and not in a bad way. It was a good comedy, but it was just like it was like a straight comedy with like action sequences. As opposed to like an action movie.
Luciano (09:54.648)
Yeah, same.
Joel (09:56.247)
No, - yeah, I agree.
Joel (10:01.743)
can't think of the action comedy slash romance rom -com that I've seen.
Matt (10:07.858)
true lies.
Luciano (10:09.338)
Wow, that was the last one? That was fucking 27 years ago or something.
Joel (10:09.647)
Well, let's go and back.
Spencer (10:12.133)
That was the last and only one.
Matt (10:12.882)
Proof me wrong!
He said scene, so I
Spencer (10:19.374)
He's his brother, he'd know.
Joel (10:20.549)
It's been while since I've
Matt (10:24.933)
Got Got
Luciano (10:26.388)
What? What's that dumb one with the Rock and Ryan Reynolds on Netflix? Yeah, yeah. For the other. Red Notice, yeah.
Matt (10:30.672)
we know we watched that for this. This podcast or the old podcast? Red Notice. I mean, that's not a romance. At no point was the fucking rock and Gal Gadot ever. The rock is the most asexual character I've ever seen in movies. that was pretty good. That was sparkling.
Joel (10:31.603)
Spencer (10:32.368)
Red?
Joel (10:35.385)
notice yeah but there's no there's no romance in
Spencer (10:36.273)
That's not a con that's wrong
Luciano (10:39.17)
No, there's not a romance. It's also not really a comedy. It's not much. are you telling me they had no chemistry? Is that what you're implying?
Spencer (10:41.447)
Weren't they?
Spencer (10:47.489)
No, he's talking about the romance between The Rock and Ryan Reynolds, which was palpable.
Luciano (10:53.338)
Much better than yeah
Spencer (10:56.722)
it's Scott, actually you mentioned Scott Pilgrim versus the world as a, action comedy rom -com.
Matt (11:03.898)
Yeah, I guess it counts.
Luciano (11:03.992)
It's... yeah... I don't know about the romance part, it's such
Spencer (11:06.704)
Mr. and Mrs. Not really a comedy, like a little bit. I mean, it's a good action. It's more action than it is comedy.
Luciano (11:09.114)
That's also 20 years ago.
Yes it is a comedy what are you talking about?
Joel (11:15.021)
I guess. Yeah, I agree.
Matt (11:18.16)
You know what's an action comedy romance movie? La Falca.
Luciano (11:21.476)
The Fall Guy, yeah, yeah, I heard of that movie.
Spencer (11:23.013)
The what now?
Matt (11:24.134)
Yeah, the what? The who? It surprised me the cast they had. the trailers, honestly the trailer convinced me that Tom Rider died and he was in the ice bath. And so when we got to the movie and it turned out to be like, well at the beginning, in the movie they didn't show it being Tom Rider, they kind of just like it's a body. But when Ryan Gosling's character Cold Siever sees
Spencer (11:38.447)
Yeah, totally.
Luciano (11:38.862)
Yeah, I thought so too.
Matt (11:53.754)
I knew it wasn't Tom Ryder because I feel like he would know it's Tom Ryder instantly if it was.
Spencer (11:57.447)
Yeah. It also surprised me how long into the movie before there was a murder, because I thought it was going to be like a murder mystery, kind of. But the murder didn't happen till like maybe an hour in, like at least like 45 minutes. Like I almost forgot there was like a whole murder aspect until I was like, oh, yeah, in the trailer, there's a dead guy.
Luciano (12:05.604)
Same.
Matt (12:11.644)
About halfway, yeah.
Luciano (12:13.201)
I was halfway in.
Luciano (12:21.934)
Yeah. So when, when he gets to Sydney and whoever it was, Gail or, or Jody, that I think was Gail tells him, Ryder has disappeared. was like, okay. It's him. He died and now it's going to be a thing for him to find and blah, blah. But then it was, I mean, it wasn't, my God, a twist, but it was like, okay. I wasn't expecting
Matt (12:32.082)
Yeah.
Matt (12:38.192)
Yeah, exactly.
Spencer (12:47.429)
It was like a change on the trope. you know, you feel like you know what the movie is going to be before you go in. And it wasn't that. And maybe that's like it was a mistake in the marketing because the movie didn't do great in theaters. Maybe if they.
Luciano (12:49.688)
Yeah,
Luciano (13:01.348)
Well, mean, given how fast it came to streaming, yeah.
Spencer (13:04.315)
to streaming.
Matt (13:05.778)
I mean, let's talk about that for a second because, you know, I don't want to ruin my rating at the end, but at a high level, the movie didn't seem as bad as the extreme theater out of theater straight to streaming reaction that came.
Luciano (13:20.986)
Yeah, and the ratings on the rotten tomatoes, for example, aren't bad. I think it's like around 80 % or something. It's no Madame Wab, but.
Spencer (13:26.801)
So you're saying it's no Madame Webb?
Matt (13:32.796)
Wait, as in Madam Web's better?
Luciano (13:35.426)
No, come on! What? Madam Webb is only better than being blind and even then by a small margin.
Spencer (13:35.559)
No, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Spencer (13:48.035)
It's like also, it's
Matt (13:48.412)
So being blind.
Spencer (13:52.155)
better than Adam Webb. It's also the same with another movie, which we may or may not cover in the future. That's similarly timed Furiosa, which like good reviews went straight to streaming. You know, just weird that it didn't do well. It's like same as this movie. I was surprised with the review
Matt (13:53.586)
Fair
Luciano (14:12.026)
I would say Furiosa is even weirder because just the hype from the first movie would have caused people to go watch,
Matt (14:18.502)
I mean, that movie is how many years old
Luciano (14:21.358)
But, Fury Road?
Spencer (14:23.303)
more than three less than 200.
Luciano (14:26.779)
You're probably right.
Spencer (14:27.311)
Actually, I don't even know if it's more than three. That wide gap may be wrong.
Matt (14:27.346)
Yeah, you're right about
Joel (14:32.731)
It's almost 10 years old, 2015.
Matt (14:32.732)
Do want to guess what I came up with? You just Google it you fucking cheater. Yeah.
Luciano (14:36.186)
I was gonna say it was 2015. Yeah. I re Yeah.
Spencer (14:36.731)
That came out that long ago? God, time. Time is a harsh mistress.
Matt (14:44.924)
So yeah, so I think that like, even though everybody loves Fury Road, I think nine years is too much of a gap to even matter. Well, so it's an interesting movie because the movie's fun, know, like it's a good time. You think a romantic comedy would draw in, you know, couples and two essentially A -listers. Is Aaron Taylor Johnson also an A -lister? mean, no, no, no, no, no. B, B plus.
Luciano (14:49.144)
Yeah, it's too long for it.
Luciano (14:58.99)
with Ryan Goslin and Emily Blunt, right? It's not like it's two nobodies, right? Yeah, yeah.
Joel (15:01.561)
Yeah. Yeah. Two big stars.
Spencer (15:08.167)
No, no, no, but he's a solid B -lister.
Luciano (15:11.404)
It was funny. One of the first things I said, like I wrote down as an ode in this movie is, Quicksilver is an asshole. I see. That's, yeah.
Matt (15:19.474)
That's your only reference point?
Spencer (15:20.953)
And did this movie, did this movie feel like it was written for Ryan Reynolds?
Matt (15:26.599)
it's, it's, I mean, truthfully, it's a Ryan Reynolds vehicle. Like
Luciano (15:29.78)
man, it would have been so much better with Ryan Reynolds. No, I don't, I don't, he has the emotional range of a cucumber. Yeah. In this movie it worked. You're right. You're right. In this movie it worked,
Spencer (15:33.273)
No, I thought Ryan Gosling was great in
Joel (15:33.989)
You think neither, Rosic? He was good.
Spencer (15:40.944)
What?
Matt (15:41.052)
Well,
Joel (15:41.711)
That's all you need in this movie. What does he need?
Matt (15:45.564)
I, the thing I've found that the more we watch Ryan Gosling movies, the more he's trying to be Ryan Reynolds or he's being cast. What do you think is kind of Reeves?
Luciano (15:53.05)
Keanu Reeves, he's Keanu Reeves yeah he doesn't
Spencer (15:58.801)
What do mean? He has so many emotions. He can be sad. He can be angry.
Matt (15:59.281)
Get to
Luciano (16:02.904)
It can be serious.
Spencer (16:04.955)
I'm out of the... Moving on!
Matt (16:07.718)
Yeah, but it seems like he's in that realm of like at least gonna reuse was just like, know what? can't emote. So I'm just gonna I'm just gonna be John
Luciano (16:13.912)
I won't even try,
Spencer (16:14.925)
No, you guys are being fucking would that way too hard to charge on Ryan Gosling in the notebook. He emotes the shit out of his place. I never quit. I never stopped writing you. I couldn't quit you. I never did. Come
Joel (16:19.717)
Think so.
Luciano (16:27.876)
I don't know, I...
Joel (16:28.111)
Was that him or the old guy that played at end of the movie? I'm not sure.
Matt (16:30.866)
Spencer's work in the Impressions realm has been known to slip from time to time. Okay.
Spencer (16:31.335)
Uhhhh
Luciano (16:35.597)
I watched
Spencer (16:40.643)
No, that wasn't that was an impression. I guess it was. But I don't have a ride. I don't have a ride in a gasoline in my repertoire.
Luciano (16:41.046)
Yeah, at least it didn't go to Alan Rickman yet. Yeah, you do. Just forget you have emotions and just speak in a normal voice. There you go. Perfect. Yeah. We watched three movies with Ryan Gosling in the past couple of years. We watched Gray Man, Gray Man for the other podcast. Then we watched Barbie.
Spencer (16:51.015)
I wanna drive. I wanna go for a ride in my car. I'm gonna take you for a ride in my car two places.
Matt (16:53.488)
Pretty good, pretty accurate.
Joel (17:04.527)
Amen.
Spencer (17:08.199)
Come on, he was fantastic at Barbie.
Luciano (17:10.038)
No, he had no emotions in vibe either. And that's it.
Matt (17:12.602)
No, he was sad. Ish.
Spencer (17:14.019)
No, but like he played Bart. He got an Oscar nomination for that. Come on. He was fantastic.
Joel (17:17.081)
Maybe.
Luciano (17:19.673)
I don't care.
Joel (17:20.463)
Maybe the genius is he just gives you enough emotion that he needs in each movie. he didn't, you know, you know, like he doesn't give you any more or any less than you need.
Matt (17:20.594)
That's just me.
Spencer (17:29.403)
Yeah, like when he was in Blade Runner, you know, he was played. He was great in that, but he was playing a robot. The Arnold Schwarzenegger rule.
Luciano (17:29.528)
maybe shit I forgot about Blade Runner
Luciano (17:36.888)
Yeah, so then it makes sense. This is like when Keanu Reeves played Johnny Mnemonic. It makes sense.
Matt (17:37.03)
Yeah.
Matt (17:43.908)
Here's what I'll say, Joel's right because Ryan Gosling, two things are true. Ryan Gosling probably isn't good at acting, emotions, but also he only picks roles now that require him to do one to two emotions.
Spencer (17:45.21)
Whoa.
Luciano (17:55.448)
That apply, right? Yeah, that's fair. That's fair.
Spencer (17:58.151)
I'll tell you one thing about Ryan Gosling. He is likable. He is likable as fuck. He's so likable. Like like what?
Matt (18:01.265)
God, Ryan Gossing Facts.
Joel (18:04.751)
He's very
Luciano (18:04.996)
True. Yes. Yeah. But this movie would have been fun with Ryan Maybe Ryan Reynolds is too fucking zany actually for this movie. If he doesn't tone it down.
Spencer (18:15.364)
This movie was written for
Matt (18:15.622)
Will Ferrell?
Joel (18:17.771)
Will
Luciano (18:19.426)
Will Ferrell? Yeah, but yeah. No, wait. Replace Ryan Gosling with Ryan Reynolds and then replace Gale with Will Ferrell and I'm
Spencer (18:20.379)
This movie was written for Will Ferrell.
Matt (18:21.692)
Ha ha ha ha ha
Matt (18:27.964)
Okay.
Joel (18:29.358)
yeah.
Spencer (18:29.467)
You know what? Now that you're pointing it out, you're right. usually Ryan Gosling in all of his movies, he plays a really serious guy who, is like, doesn't emote much or, or an over the top, like silly guy, which he does play well.
Luciano (18:40.392)
Yeah, he knows how to pick rolls. There you
Matt (18:45.202)
Because the thing here is like he doesn't play Colt Severs as dumb, but he doesn't play Colt Severs as smart. And you have Tom Ryder being just extraordinarily dumb that Colt Severs in comparison seems like a goddamn genius.
Spencer (19:02.281)
Yeah, he seems like he started Oppenheimer building the atomic bomb when he takes the Tom Ryder.
Luciano (19:06.284)
Yeah.
Spencer (19:09.735)
But yet, you know what, you're kind of opening my eyes a little bit to
Luciano (19:14.18)
You're welcome.
Spencer (19:15.493)
I don't know if I like it, because I like, like, Gothling.
Luciano (19:18.66)
Ryan Goss, you can like, I like Keanu Reeves. I know he's not the greatest actor in the world. Doesn't matter.
Joel (19:24.069)
Nah, he's good.
Spencer (19:26.747)
Was he? Yeah, no, yes.
Luciano (19:27.076)
Who? Wait, who? Ryan Gosling or Ken Rutt? It's okay. Yes, okay. Thank you. Thank you for clarifying.
Matt (19:28.582)
Yes.
Joel (19:29.655)
yeah, yeah, yeah, yes.
Matt (19:32.626)
Yeah, those guys, great. Get it active.
Matt (19:39.346)
So, okay, uh, no complaints about this movie being based on a, you know, fuck 40 year old TV property, everything's fine there. God no.
Luciano (19:46.731)
Has anyone watched the original TV series? Okay. So then why name it after it then? It's so weird.
Spencer (19:49.146)
No, no one's ever heard of
Joel (19:49.444)
No.
Matt (19:52.527)
Yeah, I
because it was probably like a buck to acquire the license and like on the off chance.
Spencer (19:58.139)
And it was probably like a studio, probably a studio mandate, like being like, we don't make original movies. This is a, this is an existing property. okay. Give him the money. Make the movie.
Luciano (19:58.874)
Like if you Do yeah, yeah Yeah, it's like if you're giving me ten bucks will give you the license and Lee majors can appear at the end. Okay, I'm in
Joel (20:00.129)
Maybe the studio,
Matt (20:08.294)
Remember how
Spencer (20:13.927)
No, was part of the lead majors has to appear. That wasn't a mandate. Yeah, yeah.
Joel (20:15.673)
Lee Majors.
Luciano (20:20.402)
It was a condition for the contract. Yeah. Okay.
Spencer (20:26.203)
He needs this.
Matt (20:26.406)
Well, I wonder, like I wonder in this scenario that is definitely very real, obviously, is it like how they used to make superhero movies? Like remember the Captain America movie from like maybe it was the 90s? Whereas like they made it because they had to make it to keep the license. Like they to make movies X amount of timeframes.
Luciano (20:39.066)
90s? my god yes.
Joel (20:41.42)
god,
I would have just given the license up
Spencer (20:45.447)
Yeah, that's why they made this. To keep the Fall Guys movie. To keep the license to the valuable Fall Guys license they put $100 million into this all -star cast film. Makes sense.
Matt (20:48.914)
Yeah, Gotta keep that fire license.
Luciano (20:58.106)
It is for, you know, for taking the name of an obscure like show from 40 years ago. This, the cast in this is pretty impressive. Right? Uh -oh, here we go.
Spencer (21:09.645)
Listen, I'll tell you exactly what happened. This no, this is actually think this is actually what happened. The director of this movie. I don't know if you know, I'm sure you guys looked into it as a famous stunt coordinator. He was like, yeah, like he was like a big stunt guy. And then he went into directing and he directed John Wick. And that was, yeah. Nope, maybe I'm wrong.
Luciano (21:22.943)
I mean, it makes sense given the rest of the movie.
Joel (21:24.709)
Mm -hmm.
Luciano (21:30.663)
it's the same director from John Wick. I didn't know that. cool.
Joel (21:30.959)
Wow.
Matt (21:33.828)
It's not. God damn it, Spencer. Did you watch this movie?
Spencer (21:38.245)
Who's the director?
Luciano (21:39.018)
I got excited for a second there.
Matt (21:40.57)
It's David, David Leitch or Leitch. He, he directed bullet train. He directed, Deadpool two.
Spencer (21:43.911)
Okay, I take back everything I said.
Luciano (21:51.512)
Okay, still.
Joel (21:52.187)
You directed one of the Fast and the Furious 2, I
Matt (21:54.546)
Yeah, Hobbs and Shaw. But I mean, you are right that he is an old stunt coordinator because he has like 82 things on stunts. You're not wrong. It's just not John Wick. Oh, fuck. OK, he worked on John Wick.
Luciano (21:57.678)
Yeah, I can see. I can see all of that.
Spencer (22:02.991)
No, he worked on John Wick. I just don't know what he did for John Wick.
Luciano (22:12.246)
as a stuntman or stunt coordination maybe yeah
Matt (22:14.278)
Stunt coordinator.
Spencer (22:17.893)
We'll see the d who - no. Okay.
Matt (22:21.372)
Wait, was he a producer on John Wick? Yeah, he was an executive producer on John
Luciano (22:27.866)
That's not the same as directing the movie.
Spencer (22:30.149)
Yeah, I take back everything I said, I'm a liar.
Matt (22:30.866)
it's most definitely not. Hey Spencer, I'm going to yield your time and hey Joel, you can talk about literally anything you want to do about this movie to fill in for whatever Spencer was going to talk
Luciano (22:34.332)
This is on me, Tristan Spencer is on
Joel (22:45.561)
wow, there's lots of pressure there except that I know he's got nothing good to say. I thought this movie was fun. thought it was kind of lighthearted. You didn't need to invest too much in it. I think Ryan Gosling was fine in it for what he delivered. Emily Blunt, it's surprising. She was in the movie, but she really wasn't like, I she was a co -star, but she wasn't in it that much relatively speaking. Most of the time you kind of come back to her and then Ryan Gosling be off
kicking some ass and then, you know, they come back to her with a little romantic scene and then that's it. It was interesting that they didn't have
Luciano (23:19.938)
And until almost the very end, she was almost like a device in the movie rather than a character, right? It was just like motivation for him.
Spencer (23:28.391)
Hey guys, why don't you shut the fuck up for a second? Listen, listen. No, I'm just joking. But I want to slap this in your pie holes. Leach and Chad Stahelski opened an action design production company called 8 -7 -11 in 1997. In 2009, they were second unit directors and like coordinators, blah, blah, blah, and stunts and stuff. The two co -directed the 2014 film John Wick.
Luciano (23:31.512)
Ha ha!
Joel (23:31.951)
Wow.
Joel (23:38.299)
this is the
Spencer (23:57.253)
Although Leach himself was not created as co -director, he was executive producer, but they co -directed it together. My fact is so deep that it's not even on the papers.
Matt (24:02.812)
but he's not credited as a director, so.
Joel (24:03.299)
Whoa.
Luciano (24:05.508)
Thanks.
Matt (24:07.27)
You're fucked.
Joel (24:08.695)
You just you got lucky. Are you sure you just didn't make that up? How do we know we can't see your
Luciano (24:09.176)
Well, I
Spencer (24:11.783)
No, this is on this is on wookiepedia, okay
Luciano (24:12.706)
Yeah, I'm reading this. I'm reading this from an I'm reading this from from this article. I just wrote on my notepad
Joel (24:17.579)
Wookiepedia!
Spencer (24:23.665)
So, suck it. was right. this movie, but that my theory, which I got lost because I thought it was lying was this guy was a stunt maker, a stunt quarter big time. And probably amongst stunt people, that TV show was probably like one of the few things about stuntmen. So they love the property.
Matt (24:42.162)
Spencer, did you call him a stunt corridor?
Luciano (24:42.427)
I see what you mean.
Joel (24:42.543)
Could be, that's a fair point, yeah.
Spencer (24:46.883)
I did. And he's where stunts go in and out of. OK. He's where they film them. So I think that they. It was probably like a corridor.
Luciano (24:47.267)
Yeah, he did.
Matt (24:48.818)
Okay, just checking.
Luciano (24:51.834)
he is where they filmed the stunts and a stunt corridor yeah a stunt living room a stunt bathroom
Matt (24:56.38)
Fair enough. But you want to be accurate on this podcast. He's been a director, producer, stunt coordinator, stunt corridor, everything. It's like co -director, uncredited, but that's a thing.
Joel (25:00.251)
I'm going work
Spencer (25:08.739)
uncredited, I just added it to wikipedia myself. So basically I think that that show was probably like, the stuntmen probably like it because it's about stunt people. And then he was like, I would love to make a movie about that. And he probably had this great idea for it. And then when he got his big shot, it was like a passion project. With and mandatory Lee Majors cameo.
Joel (25:10.436)
I'm credit.
Luciano (25:12.835)
To wikipedia of all places.
Joel (25:13.748)
Alright.
Matt (25:13.778)
What keep you?
Joel (25:26.437)
Yeah, maybe he was a big fan.
Luciano (25:28.172)
And then they sold it to him for like two gummy bears. Yeah. Lee Majors appearance. He's actually Lee Majors is actually credited as the fall guy in this movie. So yeah, they don't even give him a name. He's just the fall
Joel (25:35.396)
New majors.
Matt (25:41.286)
as he should
Matt (25:46.578)
Spencer, who do you think wrote this movie?
Spencer (25:51.597)
That was good. That was good.
Luciano (25:51.609)
Lee Majors.
Joel (25:52.569)
I David Leitch, he did everything. He acted, he directed.
Spencer (25:58.927)
I mean, my guess would be...
Luciano (26:02.146)
he's looking, this son of a bitch. My guess is, click, click, click, click, click.
Joel (26:03.943)
If I were to...
Spencer (26:06.983)
Let me just mull this over... No, no, I got it. Is it true Pierce by chance? True Pierce?
Matt (26:12.654)
It's fine. I'm going to tell you so we can stop with your humming and
Joel (26:18.939)
Drew Pierce, wow, successful Google.
Matt (26:20.37)
I mean yes, but more importantly Glen A. Larson who apparently wrote like hundred and twelve episodes at the original Fall Guy TV
Luciano (26:28.09)
see now it's clear.
Spencer (26:29.748)
No, he didn't. He. No, based on he wrote the thing that it's based on, he didn't write the movie. Now whose now whose facts are false and made up fake news.
Joel (26:29.797)
That's, no, it's based on, based
Yeah, written by David Pearce. Come on.
Matt (26:36.602)
No,
If you look at IMDB, Glenn A. Larson and Drew Pearce are listed as writing this.
Joel (26:40.901)
God,
Joel (26:47.929)
What sites are you guys both referring to here? just like... I'm on Wikipedia, I'm looking at it and I don't see it here. Wookiepedia. okay, okay, the informed source.
Spencer (26:50.255)
Wookiepedia!
Matt (26:50.434)
IMDB, have you heard of it?
Luciano (26:51.514)
The wookiepedia. Fandom .com. The wookiepedia.
Matt (26:56.176)
Not Wikipedia, Wookiepedia. It's very different. Anyways, he gets credit for writing the Fall Guy based on the still in series created by. Listen, I don't know. It's not important. We're moving on. I'm tired of all this nonsense. Plot holes. There was one and it was big, as big as Spencer's lies tonight. And the plot hole is who police, where police, why police, how police, when police, what police.
Spencer (27:02.779)
We're all wrong.
Luciano (27:15.755)
Hahaha!
Luciano (27:21.518)
my God. Never. When Polisa can tell you, never.
Matt (27:26.15)
Thank you. The police in this movie show exactly one time randomly to... Where's the second time? I mean, that's it. He's not he's a but he's the fall guy, not a cop as evidenced by the script you found on Wikipedia.
Spencer (27:27.463)
I think
Luciano (27:30.552)
give Colt a parking ticket. at the end,
Joel (27:32.793)
No, twice.
Luciano (27:43.056)
that's right. Yeah. Yes, that is true. It's not the police. It's the fall guy. Yeah, you're right. No, the police shows up.
Joel (27:48.313)
I decided to join the
Matt (27:50.128)
Yeah.
Spencer (27:50.939)
So he's the fall guy or was he cops? You can't have both.
Matt (27:54.244)
Well, I all cops are fall guys in a way. Comedary, social, got But, the police, in general, are nowhere to be found. they're they are asked to find a body, they can't find it, the body shows up later, they make no connection that someone else asked them to look in the exact same room because he saw a body.
Luciano (27:56.899)
Ooooohhh commentary.
Luciano (28:13.42)
took him to the same apartment where he came out of after being accused of killing people.
Spencer (28:20.401)
So that actually makes me wonder how the fuck did that even work? Like they had a body on ice in there by the time that Ryan Gosling went down, they got rid of it without like any water or anything there. And then, but then after he left, they put the body back, back on ice in
Luciano (28:30.476)
It went back? Yeah.
Joel (28:32.923)
It was very
Matt (28:40.188)
Well, so was Spencer.
Luciano (28:40.246)
No, I don't think
Joel (28:40.303)
That's right, they didn't find the body. I didn't ever explain that, how they suddenly found the body that wasn't
Matt (28:44.614)
Right, Spencer you raise a very valid point, this is why it's a plot hole, because the police can't figure out where bodies come and go. But I think it's a fair question to ask, and I'm gonna put you all on the spot, how did they hide this ice body for, you know, one to 24 hours?
Joel (28:58.287)
He went to the wrong room. He went back up to the room. He went in thinking that was the right room and he was across the hall. It was a drug. He just go high. Yeah, exactly. He was on the.
Spencer (29:02.299)
And he was high.
Luciano (29:02.33)
It was the lingering effect of the drugs
Matt (29:04.818)
He was so high and so concussed.
Spencer (29:09.743)
That actually kind of tracks because if they, the key had to kick the door down and the key he had was probably for a different room. And then when they went up with the cops, they used his key card and it's like, this was the door. And they went into the other wrong room.
Joel (29:17.893)
Yeah, like how would
Matt (29:18.224)
Yeah, that actually works.
Joel (29:22.521)
Yeah, yeah, maybe the first room he went into it. Yeah, it was just dumb luck. He found the dead body. I don't know.
Matt (29:28.272)
I don't know if that's dumb luck finding dead bodies, just to be fair.
Luciano (29:31.034)
And he asked for the fruit
Joel (29:31.515)
Well, he had to kick the door in, know.
Matt (29:36.658)
That's right. Yep.
Spencer (29:37.839)
I also didn't understand that. The fruit platter takes you to the room where he's but the code is to get you to a room where there's a dead body.
Luciano (29:39.588)
Well, that was a code.
Matt (29:44.428)
No, that's because that's where Tom Ryder was. He was supposed to be delivering drugs to Tom
Luciano (29:44.516)
Well, yeah, because, yeah.
No, but he, the guy from the front desk says he's on ice. It's on ice, yeah, Kevin. So I think they knew, which makes even less sense because Tom Rider kills that guy in front of like 30 people and they're all okay with him killing the guy. Nobody reported the police. Yeah, that's true, yeah.
Matt (29:52.838)
Kevin?
Matt (29:57.906)
the her platter was a body.
Joel (30:05.435)
Yeah. And he doesn't want to kill any of them. He wants to kill Ryan Reynolds because he knows about what's going on, none of those other 30 witnesses.
Matt (30:10.96)
Okay, bye.
Spencer (30:13.073)
That's good question.
Matt (30:15.046)
This is fair, this is the plotholes of police, not Tom
Spencer (30:17.767)
Maybe we should shift it. Maybe we should take a pivot. Because that's a great point. Like, are all those people that witnessed him murder someone dead?
Joel (30:18.36)
Well, we've found other plot holes. Yeah.
This plot hole is a lot bigger than we thought.
Matt (30:29.571)
Wow.
Luciano (30:30.203)
Maybe they're all on ice.
Spencer (30:34.119)
But you know to be fair they're all people that hang out with celebrities for clout, so they'd probably say or do anything Yeah, they probably
Luciano (30:38.66)
They're all people who hang out with Tom Ryder. So that's not a good indication of character.
Joel (30:40.219)
That's
Matt (30:42.342)
Yeah. That's the vetted for. And there's the police. Yeah. But but the police, they're they're the real.
Luciano (30:46.616)
Yeah, they sign an NDA before they go hang out with him.
Spencer (30:47.591)
They're probably all
Spencer (30:54.565)
They're the real villains.
Luciano (30:56.131)
Well, yeah, mean, their villainy is out of absence, right? They're never anywhere. Like, they have a shootout in the middle of the city. They're driving a truck with a giant dumpster which falls on the ground, causes a crash. No police shows up. And this is Sydney. This is not like in the middle of nowhere.
Spencer (31:11.057)
Well this
Matt (31:12.562)
How do you - Nah, that happens to Sydney all the time.
Spencer (31:15.815)
Yeah, I was gonna say this is Australia. They're probably like, hi, you stay the old shootout on number 22.
Luciano (31:18.443)
Yeah, it's not America, that's the point.
again? Yeah, maybe. I don't think so. I don't think
Spencer (31:25.785)
Hi, Mike.
Matt (31:26.172)
Joey, Joey, want to take a shot at an Australian accent or just let the professionals
Spencer (31:29.777)
Let's hear it Joel, put him on the spot. You call that a noise? This is a man on ice.
Joel (31:31.803)
That's no knife, that's a knife. There you go, my crocodile down D.
Luciano (31:34.276)
There you go. And nice reference too. Show your age, but nice, reference. Yeah. No, like, and then like in the harbor at night when they're like going, I mean, there's a shootout at Tom Ryder's house or apartment or whatever, right? Nothing happens. No police appears.
Matt (31:35.046)
Well done,
Matt (31:53.552)
mean, it's in the harbor, no one lives down
Spencer (31:56.987)
That's also in like a rich famous person's house.
Luciano (31:57.548)
No, it's only the place where all the commerce happens and the harbour.
Matt (32:03.066)
It's nighttime. Commerce doesn't happen at night. Everybody knows that. And it's down under, so it's reverse rule. So it's like, definitely doesn't happen at night. Don't think anymore about that. thinking. I said don't think.
Luciano (32:06.435)
Come on.
Spencer (32:09.497)
Yeah. Their nighttime is daytime, which is even quieter. She was less active. Yeah.
Luciano (32:11.704)
No way. No. If
Joel (32:18.263)
And the toilet flushed backwards, right? I saw that symptoms epi...
Luciano (32:18.376)
my god.
Matt (32:20.474)
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, the toilets flush backward. Therefore, no commerce at night. Now we're talking.
Spencer (32:24.111)
Yeah, the criminals catch the cops. It's all drags. Australia.
Luciano (32:28.502)
It's not it's not Bizarro World!
Joel (32:29.051)
It makes sense
Matt (32:30.98)
Tom Reiter is innocent because Australia. Yeah, he can't. The man killed himself. Tom Reiter tried to save him. That's what I understand.
Luciano (32:34.318)
He killed a man. He's innocent because he killed a man.
Matt (32:46.096)
I think the bigger, listen, I don't discount the fact that it's a shootout and no one showed up, but I think it's like the boat chasing, like obviously driving beside other boats. The giant explosion, to be fair, the giant explosion didn't make TV, so presumably the cops showed up eventually. Yeah, but they showed up eventually. not, the cops aren't quick. They come eventually, right?
Luciano (32:54.392)
Yeah, and the explosions.
Luciano (33:01.58)
no, the media is fine, it's the police that's the problem.
Luciano (33:11.034)
Yeah, dude.
Spencer (33:11.463)
Do think those cops that like went up to the room or fired? They're like, Oh, you went up to this crime scene 10 minutes before.
Matt (33:17.956)
based on our pro the plea - They got a nice year -long suspension with pay.
Spencer (33:22.349)
Yeah, they got paid with dollary
Luciano (33:23.128)
Yeah. It's the same. These are the same. They're all from the same school of policing as Roadhouse, right? It's the same thing. you want to fly a giant boat into a bar? Sure. Police is not going to do anything about it. It's the same thing here.
Spencer (33:45.499)
Here in Australia, we let them solve their own problems.
Luciano (33:49.402)
Yeah. And to top it off, the plan was to frame Colt for the
Matt (33:52.07)
You want to snap a neck, snap a neck. It's fine.
Matt (34:00.07)
Right, because he famously looks
Luciano (34:03.578)
So I'm ready.
Joel (34:03.629)
like Tom, come right here.
Matt (34:04.06)
Tom Ryder. In a way that Henry didn't. that's right.
Spencer (34:04.998)
Like, kinda.
Luciano (34:06.606)
Well, I mean, they did the deep fake thing, but like he's the only person in this movie who talks to a police officer. He takes the man or both of them upstairs to where he said that was okay. He wanted to report a crime and he ends up accused and they're like, yeah, yeah, no, that makes sense.
Matt (34:25.072)
Actually, that story tracks a lot more than you think it would based on how police
Spencer (34:28.239)
Yeah. Plus that were they even cops? They were like meter maids.
Joel (34:33.241)
Yeah, they looked more like like traffic police. They were really no.
Spencer (34:35.278)
I don't think they even have badges.
Matt (34:37.746)
Yeah, they're not real, please.
Luciano (34:40.)
my
Spencer (34:41.127)
They're police in the streets, not the police in the sheets.
Luciano (34:42.65)
Traffic police erasure over here.
Luciano (34:48.034)
I hate you. I fucking hate you.
Spencer (34:48.667)
I rest my case.
Matt (34:51.794)
I'm so confused right now.
Spencer (34:54.519)
I mean, but that is, yeah, it's a big problem, especially with also the like armed gunmen that are openly walking around movie sets and what,
Matt (35:03.058)
They do like get more brazen with how they walk around with guns and no one questions them. It's
Spencer (35:07.717)
Like, listen, if this was said in America, I would accept that. I'd be more likely to accept that. I'm like, pretty sure they've pretty strict gun laws in Australia.
Luciano (35:11.161)
yeah, not even a plot hole.
Matt (35:11.398)
This is, that is
Joel (35:11.707)
100 % that would be
Luciano (35:17.465)
Yeah, they do.
Matt (35:17.852)
Did this movie happen in America, America's version of what they think Australia is like?
Luciano (35:22.778)
100 % 100 % Oh Fair fair no they turned it down they turned it
Spencer (35:23.737)
No, if that were the case, there'd be kangaroos boxing everywhere.
Matt (35:27.055)
that's
Joel (35:27.275)
Ha!
Spencer (35:32.319)
For realism.
Luciano (35:34.948)
Well, nobody said the dingo ate by baby. So there's also that because that's a dango dead. Yeah. don't, don't, I don't know. It's, it feels to me like whoever wrote this, like they wanted to have the, like the idea of, yeah. Gary, that guy, Gary. Yeah.
Spencer (35:39.665)
But did a dingo eat ya baby?
Matt (35:52.796)
Gary.
Spencer (35:54.499)
Gary
Matt (35:56.028)
Gary and Drew.
Joel (35:57.957)
Gary. Glen?
Matt (36:00.05)
Whatever the fuck his name
Luciano (36:00.908)
He wanted to have the whole idea of like the pun of ha ha, he's a fall guy and he's a stunt. But they were like, let's not worry too much about the logistics of this. It's just like, just say there's a frame for a murder and that's
Joel (36:01.55)
Yeah.
Spencer (36:14.331)
I mean, it would have worked way better if he didn't bring the cops up into that room.
Joel (36:14.927)
which which is fair.
Matt (36:19.75)
It went, hey, I have to cut it in here with late breaking news. I'm pretty sure Glenn didn't write this movie.
Joel (36:24.249)
Great.
Spencer (36:26.279)
What?
Joel (36:28.077)
Is Glen dead, Matt?
Spencer (36:29.319)
Okay, so you didn't write it a decade ago on his deathbed? news. All right. I apologize to the family
Matt (36:32.786)
He died in 2014?
Joel (36:34.491)
Hahaha
Okay
Matt (36:42.854)
Maybe they did.
Luciano (36:43.365)
Oh my god, breaking news, He died literally 10 years ago.
Matt (36:52.432)
My bad, I just didn't want to lead the fair, was a stray.
Luciano (36:55.157)
God.
Spencer (36:56.401)
Let's just have a moment of silence for Glen. Rest in peace, yep. You know what, we shouldn't feel bad.
Joel (36:58.619)
Yeah, rest in peace, Glenn. You're in a better place not having to listen to this.
Matt (36:58.8)
Yeah, please.
Luciano (37:05.082)
True, fair.
Matt (37:05.554)
That is fair. You've only been here for about 30 minutes. We do, I do, you know, we've isolated the police amongst many plot holes exist. How do we, how do we repair this hole in the fabric of the Fall Guy space time that the police have created by not being there? Like we don't have to have the police show up everywhere, but like are there other explanations as to why they don't care?
Luciano (37:34.766)
I think the easiest way would have been to move this from, because there's no real need for it to be in Sydney, right? There's no particular like thing that needs to be in the movie or whatever.
Matt (37:46.062)
No, untrue. They used to sit in the opera houses like the they have a big like fight scene. Yeah.
Joel (37:46.874)
out
Joel (37:51.247)
It was a big showdown, right, at the end.
Luciano (37:53.368)
Yeah, but it doesn't have to be there, right? I was going to say that the easiest way of fixing this is moving it to some shithole country somewhere.
Spencer (37:55.781)
Yes it does.
Matt (37:55.952)
I mean, does.
Spencer (38:02.299)
The Opera House was Glenn's vision. We will respect it. This is the House. There's bold letters on the script. I think another kind of easy way to write around it without having to make too many changes would be this movie production's so big that they
Luciano (38:05.018)
From beyond the grave!
Joel (38:09.007)
Yeah, Glenn always wanted to film an episode of the Fall Guy in Sydney and he never had a
Spencer (38:31.227)
sort of quarantine off certain areas where there's no police and there's no bystanders. so that's where some of the action happens.
Matt (38:40.742)
They do try to insinuate that Gale is doing that, though I think they don't do a great
Luciano (38:45.42)
Yeah, I thought about that too, like maybe, you know, it's just paying off the police somehow. But again, this is not the US.
Joel (38:52.325)
I mean this movie or at least Tom Ryder's got like a paramilitary so it's like there's enough firepower and you know around to protect, they don't need the police like what's point?
Luciano (39:02.138)
I was saying he went, we don't need the police, I got my police. And they went, okay.
Spencer (39:08.463)
Yeah, you...
Joel (39:09.817)
Yeah, I mean, I dunno.
Spencer (39:12.239)
You don't worry about servant protection. We'll worry about servant protecting.
Matt (39:15.807)
Are you saying that if Johnny Depp brought his own cops to Australia, they wouldn't have sent him home with his little
Spencer (39:22.779)
That is exactly what we're saying. And I'm pretty sure that's what we said verbatim.
Joel (39:28.055)
And his cops would be drunken pirates, right? Yeah, obviously.
Matt (39:31.024)
Obviously, as is tradition. We are, but we'll get to that later. That's a spoiler alert for something later.
Spencer (39:32.463)
Are we writing a movie right now?
called the old guy.
Luciano (39:38.906)
Maybe, yeah, he died in 2014.
Spencer (39:42.179)
You don't.
Matt (39:43.004)
Hey, Glenn.
Joel (39:45.979)
You're not gonna live that one down for a while I'm
Matt (39:48.644)
No, no, will because I'll make another dumb mistake in the next episode. We'll all forget about this
Joel (39:52.837)
God, I like this.
Spencer (39:52.887)
Next episode you're make it to the end of this episode without making a mistake? Bold. Yeah.
Luciano (39:58.372)
Yeah, he plans on being quiet for the rest of the episode. Look, he's doing it. I was going to say, they could have also shown the police getting close, like the sirens or anything, just something. They're trying.
Spencer (40:13.359)
At least in the scene where they're like going down the street with the garbage can thing or truck thing.
Joel (40:19.301)
But were you bothered by was applauded but were you bothered by the lack of police? Did it actually change your perception of the movie or was it just kind of like
Matt (40:26.482)
Hey man, I asked the questions here, not you. Fuck you. Get outta here.
Spencer (40:27.609)
Yeah, what is this logic? We pick apart movies for no reason. This guy coming in here and telling us the disbelief.
Joel (40:28.443)
Mm
Luciano (40:32.25)
Trying to make sense and shit?
Joel (40:32.667)
You didn't say any ground rules.
Matt (40:34.482)
fucking new guys. Listen, I got a better question. Hey Joel, were you bothered by the lack of police in this movie? when they didn't show up? Thank you guys. Yeah. Thank
Joel (40:40.311)
I paid charity to come and I could get to do what I wanted.
Spencer (40:41.639)
That's a great question, Matt.
Luciano (40:43.182)
That is, that is
Good question, Matt!
Joel (40:48.735)
I mean, yeah, it's a very good question. I mean, before Luciano pointed out, I honestly didn't even notice. So obviously, clearly did not bother
Matt (40:59.344)
Wow. Wow, Luciano.
Spencer (41:01.287)
This is how a normal brain views a movie.
Luciano (41:03.087)
Is that... Are you saying that I ruined the movie for
Joel (41:07.149)
No, no, I still enjoyed the movie. just, you know, I just never really thought about
Luciano (41:09.26)
Okay. It bothered me when it like, if it was just one scene, no, right? But it happened like three or four times. It was even in hindsight for me was when that whole scene with the like both chase and then the explosion. I was like, the fuck, where is another gonna try to pin? Actually, I know exactly when it was. It when they say they're gonna pin the murder on him. I was like, okay, wait.
No, I was okay with the police being out of this, but now... Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Spencer (41:39.835)
But now you're now you're bringing them in. You know, the movie is bringing them
Matt (41:43.842)
Yeah, I think that's key because for whatever reason, when we talk about a boat chase, I think back to Indiana Jones when they're for the last crusade. no, no, no. in the last crusade, like they go into the church and they end up doing like a chase in the water. And like there's no cops anywhere in that chase. But I think it's your rights because
Luciano (41:56.974)
I thought you were going to talk about the fridge again.
Luciano (42:05.396)
yeah, yeah.
Luciano (42:09.594)
True, and it doesn't bother anybody.
Matt (42:13.414)
They then invoke police at a later date where it's just like, okay, now...
Luciano (42:17.774)
And it becomes like super important to the plot, right? Because now Tom Rider can come back to the movie and blah, blah, right?
Spencer (42:23.877)
Yeah. And when they bring the police and you start thinking back to earlier in the movie, you're like, wait, did the police see this? Didn't the police notice this? And you start thinking about how the police would have been viewing all the previous events.
Luciano (42:31.736)
Yeah. Yeah. It was like there was a shootout in what seems to be a pretty affluent neighborhood. Nothing happened. There was a car chase that caused multiple car crash. Nothing happened. There was a chase around the harbor with an explosion. Nothing happened. Don't bring it into this.
Spencer (42:53.595)
I mean, a good way to cover that would have been like in the police report where they're like saying he died from the boat crash and they show his, video, him leaving the crime scene. They could have also been like, and he was seen in a gunfight in the middle of the streets and like, know, like, like go covering basically everything he did. Yeah. Like everything he did throughout the movie was all part of like, the police were tracking it and it just made him look more guilty.
Luciano (43:09.006)
yeah, yeah, like pin the whole thing on him. Yeah, yeah,
Luciano (43:19.79)
Yeah, that would have worked,
Spencer (43:22.001)
would have made it seem like they weren't incompetent. At least they were like, or non -existent, yeah.
Luciano (43:24.566)
or non existent.
Matt (43:28.464)
Yeah, Joel, what's your name? said some cops now.
Spencer (43:30.993)
Where's your enjoying the movie even though it didn't bother you now? Despite the small nitpick that we pointed out. That's right. Now if you want to pay to be on the podcast.
Joel (43:33.979)
Well, you you guys you guys are great yeah, you guys are great you're really really yeah, you're right you make great
Matt (43:35.558)
Bite the plot hole that we found.
Luciano (43:47.396)
Feel it? Hey, Extra Life's coming up again in a few months.
Matt (43:49.668)
you
All you need to do is buy 1000 pairs of
Spencer (43:56.866)
Yeah!
Luciano (43:57.53)
there you go.
Matt (44:01.01)
Problem solved.
Spencer (44:01.691)
Lower back pain, knee pain, pain.
Matt (44:04.56)
What? Listen, I think we've solved this black hole for better for worse. Mostly for worse.
Luciano (44:13.37)
That's what we do.
Matt (44:15.324)
Let's dive into some fun questions, shall we? Let's start off easy, think. Joel's new to this and we don't want to scare him.
Spencer (44:18.565)
Yay!
Luciano (44:26.842)
We don't? Yeah, we don't, we don't.
Joel (44:26.971)
Now you're saying
Matt (44:29.944)
What? No, it's fine. Hey,
How did Gale go from owning a Premier League soccer team to being a Hollywood producer slash cleaner?
Luciano (44:42.119)
I like it. It's a meta question like the rest of this movie. Let's see.
Spencer (44:48.367)
Well, I don't know if all of you followed her exploits in the Premier League, but I did.
Luciano (44:56.302)
I didn't finish the third season, but not yet anyway.
Spencer (44:58.823)
I would say that after I think Ted Lasso leaves. Now I don't remember.
Luciano (45:10.311)
She follows him to the US.
Spencer (45:12.247)
She sells the team and she can't get her cookie fix that he would bake for her, which she's addicted to. So she follows him to the States and through her connections, she talks about how the players in soccer would constantly act like they were injured and how she was the best at getting them to put on these great performances of being hurt, even though they weren't actually hurt in these soccer games.
Matt (45:12.402)
Well I bleached yourself and the team.
Spencer (45:40.443)
And then they said that would translate really well to dealing with actors. So, yeah, they're big babies,
And then it's throw shade. So she's like, I can deal with these big babies. And instead of, you know, pretending they're hurt on the field, they'll pretend like they have emotions on the screen.
Matt (45:49.436)
Great, great, great job.
Joel (45:54.383)
Ahem.
Spencer (46:04.771)
And I'll do whatever needs to be done to win. Because I'm sick of losing like I did with that fuck Ted Lasso.
Luciano (46:14.34)
Wow, okay.
Spencer (46:15.247)
Yeah, she's bitter. She's bitter.
Matt (46:15.548)
Cool. Hey, listen, Spencer, that was a great idea and there's no wrong answers, but I think I'm to turn to anybody else for an alternate reason or way. Yeah, no, just just we're just spitball. But anybody else with Spencer? Joel, answer the question, please.
Joel (46:15.784)
That was a giving.
Spencer (46:20.561)
Thank you. You sure? I got more.
Joel (46:33.979)
Please. Please. God.
Spencer (46:37.159)
Did you want me to jump in?
No, no, no, okay. Okay, Joel, you got
Joel (46:45.103)
How did Gail go from premier league soccer to becoming a murderous producer? It starts with her ex -boyfriend Glenn something or other that wrote some script back in the day. He died, she was emotionally distraught. She heard about this show she wrote about the Fall Guy and she thought, I'm going to turn it into a ridiculous space movie. I have no idea.
Luciano (46:51.514)
slash cleaner.
Spencer (46:57.7)
yeah!
Matt (47:01.394)
It's Glenn Gary. Yeah.
Spencer (47:13.625)
Whoa, this is even, this is layers of meta. So you're taking the movie Metal Storm, I was gonna say Metalgasm. Metal Storm is, so Metalgasm is a retelling of Glenn's original Fall Guys script.
Joel (47:15.439)
This is even crazier. Layers of meta. Metal Storm.
Luciano (47:17.229)
It's more meta, yeah.
storm.
Joel (47:24.121)
Metalgasm? Metalgasm.
Luciano (47:24.622)
Hahaha!
Matt (47:24.636)
Sure.
Joel (47:36.207)
Yeah, that sounds right.
Spencer (47:38.512)
That sounds like words put together. I like
Luciano (47:39.079)
It does? It does?
Matt (47:40.272)
Sounds legit. Yeah, could be true.
Joel (47:43.323)
It could be true. I mean, it's as true as anything.
Spencer (47:45.447)
That is true. It's as true as anything that's not true. It's equally true as a lie.
Matt (47:50.002)
Great. That is the best answer I've heard. We're moving on. These are all valid points.
Luciano (47:56.346)
I pre -yield my time.
Matt (47:59.098)
Yeah, thank you, Luciano. I appreciate that. what? So we saw at the beginning movie, Cold Seaverse goes up to do the stunt again because they want to do it backwards or whatever. And we know that he falls at the end of that. His back is broken. Allegedly, fair point. What happens during that fall? Like,
Luciano (48:14.394)
allegedly.
Joel (48:22.233)
He doesn't actually hit the ground, obviously. I think, yeah, think, I think, yeah, obviously he'd be dead. So I think Tom, you know, he just, he panics at the end and just hits the break and he just, he stops it so hard that his back is, you know, just his vertebrae is fractured, not his back is not completely broken.
Spencer (48:25.573)
Yeah, yeah, he'd dead.
Matt (48:25.733)
Obviously.
Spencer (48:40.773)
That's a good explanation. No, that's a good one. No, no. Yeah, you came up with metalgasm. That's a good point though, because at the end of the movie when he has to, when she says shoot him, he hesitates then too, remember? He hesitates to shoot.
Matt (48:44.122)
you and your realistic answers.
Joel (48:44.859)
Well, I had to make it for the last one with the nonsense.
Matt (48:48.69)
None of these answers are real. Yeah. Don't answer like Spencer. Just answer Metalgasm all the time.
Luciano (48:49.134)
No, the last one was good.
Joel (48:56.561)
Hmm.
Luciano (48:56.685)
Hahaha!
Joel (49:04.527)
Yeah, like deep down he has a mutual respect for the stunt double. He did say, you're the best stunt guy, know, stunt double I've ever had. Like, and I think he was secretly in love with
Luciano (49:09.072)
Deep down he's just a pussy.
Spencer (49:10.875)
his brother.
Spencer (49:18.383)
layers.
Joel (49:20.014)
Layers,
Luciano (49:20.416)
I think what happened on that fall is that through some magic or some other powers that Tom Rider has, happens is Cold Reverse falls into a Super Mario tube, like a pipe, and he didn't really break his back. just like kind of mildly inconvenienced his back. But he disappears for two years. That's what happens.
Spencer (49:27.505)
Go on.
Joel (49:43.161)
Wow. I paid charity to listen to that.
Luciano (49:46.456)
Yeah, you did. And you paid it and you better like it.
Joel (49:50.761)
Ahem.
Spencer (49:51.057)
Joel, Joel, I can hear you Googling, can you get charity money back? How to get charity From right out of their hands. I'm gonna take the... It's drip bag. Yoink! Yeah.
Matt (49:51.164)
Listen,
Joel (49:55.899)
I'm gonna go down to the sick kids tomorrow and rip that money out of some poor kid's hands. You should be ashamed of yourself!
Luciano (50:02.211)
Hahaha!
Matt (50:05.586)
Some kids some kids gonna be in there all sick. He's gonna run by I think it's drugs to be like this is for my money
Luciano (50:08.996)
Mine!
Joel (50:14.326)
Hahaha
Matt (50:18.62)
That kid will deserve it
Spencer (50:20.699)
I think that's a talking boat. Joel's guess, not whatever that was. yeah.
Luciano (50:25.73)
No, fuck you, my story is as true as anything else. Why? No, I disagree.
Matt (50:29.232)
Yeah, but it's better when comes when Joel says it's more realistic. You know this is like your third language. You have no idea what you're saying right
Joel (50:32.32)
Okay.
Luciano (50:36.716)
What? What's the second now? Wait, do I speak another language that I don't remember? Anyway.
Joel (50:37.403)
third language
Spencer (50:40.295)
binary? I agree though, it makes sense that like he didn't hit the ground and that it was the the last minute rope like tightening as opposed to a gradual
Matt (50:50.524)
The rope or whatever.
Luciano (50:51.61)
Well, 18 months later, all that we see is he has some electroshock thing happening. That's it.
Matt (50:59.068)
That's the future that Glenn envisioned,
Luciano (51:02.118)
Yes he did. Again, from beyond the grave, he envisioned...
Spencer (51:02.151)
He didn't know what we'd have in 2024. You're saying that in 2014 he wrote it to take place in 2024. Wow. He really predicted certain technologies.
Joel (51:03.097)
That's true. Flynn never liked murder or
Matt (51:12.07)
Yeah, obviously.
Luciano (51:12.854)
It was like, what a visionary.
Joel (51:15.995)
He thought 2024 is modern medicine could fix a broken back. even if you.
Luciano (51:19.451)
Yeah, he also predicted the cyber
Spencer (51:22.543)
Yeah. And, and deep fakes. was, that's impressive. You know who they are. We can't say who they are on the air, but we all know.
Matt (51:23.089)
Obviously.
Luciano (51:25.294)
Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
Matt (51:26.99)
Obviously Glenn was a visionary and that's why they killed him in 2014
Luciano (51:31.29)
Who's they?
Matt (51:35.44)
You know who they are. Exactly.
Luciano (51:36.186)
The West Side, boys?
Matt (51:40.752)
I don't know to about them. Hey, new question. What, Tom Ryder has a lot of sticky notes, like his passwords and all that random shit, but like, what do you think are his most private sticky notes?
Luciano (51:55.022)
the ones on like his bedroom or his shower stall or something
Matt (51:58.482)
I mean, that's wherever his most private area is,
Luciano (52:03.512)
Wait, you think he has ballstits? Yeah, probably. I was gonna ask you, do think he has ballstits on his private areas? Like in his body? Like, just one those ball sack, dick, crotch.
Joel (52:03.899)
I love you, Colt.
Matt (52:11.204)
I mean, yes and no.
Spencer (52:12.837)
No, I think he's more asking what is the note, what's written on the note.
Joel (52:16.399)
What? Red Nana? yeah, what?
Matt (52:17.98)
Sounds like you're a good Tom writer based on how you're talking.
Spencer (52:22.119)
Hehehehehe
Joel (52:22.875)
Isn't there another question we might get to later about who might play a Tom Ryder if not? Yeah, okay, skip it. Save the time.
Matt (52:29.372)
I think we have the answer. We're not gonna ask that question anymore. Yeah, we're done.
Spencer (52:34.311)
I think he has potential nicknames on one of them, like just nicknames and it's like Tom, Dick, Ryder, no no that's for himself. I think he has Colt 45.
Matt (52:39.57)
For his dick or for... Yeah.
But for his dick or for just Tom in general? Tom's dick or
Spencer (52:49.639)
No, I'm not talking about Tom's dick. Who's talking about Tom's dick? Although his... No, one of his nicknames was Tom Dick Rider. That was one of his potential nicknames. I don't know why I Colt 45 because that's the name of the stuntman, but it inspired him. You know what? That one's on me.
Joel (52:51.205)
Tom Dick and Mary.
Matt (52:52.954)
You said cold stick, so I was just trying to understand.
Okay,
Luciano (53:02.07)
Yeah, I was gonna... It was very confusing. I mean, Tom Ryder is an idiot, so he might have written Tom45 thinking his name is also a gun.
Joel (53:03.033)
Yeah.
Matt (53:12.038)
That's it. Yeah. That's rocks, actually.
Spencer (53:12.775)
It also where he heard someone call him cold 45 so he's like I'll be Tom 45 that's Yeah Fucking cold things better than me. I'll break that fuckers back
Joel (53:14.576)
Hahaha
Luciano (53:16.73)
Yeah. I'll be Tom 46 is even cooler.
Spencer (53:30.657)
And I'm trying to think of other notes you would have said. feel like like food goes in here, like pointing to a mouth.
Luciano (53:35.566)
Yeah, I think he has notes on like very like regular things like mirror and toothbrush like that. Just to remember what it's supposed to be.
Spencer (53:44.562)
like labeled. Like they said in the movie, like
Joel (53:50.403)
Not like stuff like, what, you're smart, what is the Tom, who's the guy from Saturday Night Live that, gosh darn it, people like me. So it's like self -motivation. I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like me. Maybe he just got those self -motivating quotes all over.
Luciano (53:58.33)
the guy who's a senator now. He's a senator now. Yeah, yeah. All Franklin, that's his name.
Spencer (54:04.025)
I
He
Matt (54:09.39)
Yeah, but wasn't he wasn't our frank. was
Luciano (54:11.748)
Frank, it was, it was out franken,
Joel (54:12.013)
It was, it was Al Franken. Was it Al Franken?
Matt (54:14.022)
No, he wrote them, but it wasn't like the character's name. it was not important. Yeah.
Luciano (54:17.144)
No, no, it wasn't the character's name yet, but yeah. I'm sure he writes motivation of like live, laugh, love for sure. For sure.
Joel (54:18.298)
No, no.
Spencer (54:22.767)
Yeah, yeah, there's definitely some like inspiring quotes like, you know, be present.
You know, big.
Matt (54:31.334)
Do think Tom Raddant had a live life love or was it like a slight modification on
Spencer (54:35.973)
Live, fuck?
Luciano (54:38.18)
Probably, something like that. He wouldn't write fuck, he would write bang. He's the kind of guy who would write bang.
Matt (54:41.148)
Okay, that I see as well. Yeah, he's classy like that. All right, fair enough.
Spencer (54:48.411)
Live, laugh.
Matt (54:50.482)
Bang.
Spencer (54:51.099)
Bang, got it. And get it
Luciano (54:55.866)
Stop.
Matt (54:57.808)
Hey, Spencer, stop you. I have that's another question.
Spencer (54:59.498)
Yeah? Please do.
Joel (55:02.139)
I just dropped
Luciano (55:03.362)
Why wise wise?
Matt (55:06.128)
Hey, why does Tarantula love murder?
Spencer (55:09.787)
I'll tell you why. Why does he love murder? I mean, I don't think it's more of a compulsion in a way, know, it's like he, from all of his killings we've witnessed, he's got a hair trigger, you know, in insecurity, which is why he puts those,
Luciano (55:12.723)
What
Spencer (55:37.817)
I'm gosh darn people like me notes out because when he feels like anybody disrespects him, he goes loco.
Matt (55:46.406)
Right, he's got a bunch of stickies that are like, I am, I do my own stunts. I am the stunt man. Right. Right. That's yes. Mixed him. I got
Spencer (55:51.951)
Yeah, I will kill you.
Spencer (55:57.513)
He probably has a post -it, like you know how serial killers keep trophies? He has post -it notes of all his victims.
Luciano (56:05.146)
that he like he kills no no he kills a person and he writes the person's name and he goes like this is my trophy I took this from
Spencer (56:05.221)
which is just bad.
Matt (56:05.904)
like a piece of their skin that's a Post -It note.
Spencer (56:13.657)
Yeah, because he doesn't understand how trophies work. This was a part of them and now it's a part of
Luciano (56:16.514)
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
Matt (56:16.55)
Dashy tracks.
Joel (56:16.807)
the
Matt (56:21.871)
So wait a second, are you saying that every sticky is a murder?
Joel (56:25.241)
is a victim.
Spencer (56:26.071)
Yes. No. Yeah. Yeah. Except for the, except for the, the, the pants one.
Luciano (56:26.36)
Not every, every sticky, but most of them.
Matt (56:28.902)
Muscle, okay.
Matt (56:33.03)
right. That's fair. Just that one.
Joel (56:34.843)
Just that
Spencer (56:35.751)
Yeah, just his pants on his pants.
Luciano (56:38.97)
Every single one.
Matt (56:40.476)
Alright, a valid answer if ever I heard one. That couldn't be true as Joel famously has said.
Luciano (56:46.362)
As true as anything else is as true as anything else
Spencer (56:46.715)
It's as true as any lie.
Joel (56:46.747)
It's just truth or dare. Truth or dare is else.
Matt (56:49.612)
Just... don't know, Joel. Why don't you take a stab at this?
Joel (56:53.211)
Stab I Think that's that's a good way to intro into the fact that Tom just loves stabbing people or kicking them into Chairs or whatever that guy broke his neck on he just yeah, he's just got a lust for murder He can't you know, he can't do his own stunts. So he feels inferior So, you know the way to feel superior versus other people is to just murder them Just choke
Spencer (57:18.835)
just choke the life out of them and watch their eyes go white as their last heartbeat is felt in the fingertips of your palm around their neck.
Matt (57:20.594)
I gotta ask a question here. Maybe this is for Spencer Angel.
Joel (57:24.237)
Yeah, rolling back. Yeah. Wow, that's very graphic.
Matt (57:30.876)
But like, was this a fun joke? Are we seeing into your psyche right now?
Spencer (57:32.995)
As their last breath you breathe into your lungs.
Luciano (57:36.272)
Yeah, so he was abused as a child. No, stop.
Joel (57:39.259)
hahahaha
Matt (57:40.156)
Cause like, I happened to spend a lot of time with Joel and actually, know, a decent amount of time with Spencer. And you talk about murder, that makes me concerned about hanging out with you.
Spencer (57:52.679)
Joel, we should meet up. We should walk the piers late at night and meet people. Just looking for trouble, see what we find.
Joel (57:55.363)
Yeah, think this, yeah, we bonded over that. What is it? Curling? We were at one time. The fears.
Luciano (58:02.586)
Just pushing people.
Matt (58:08.882)
Looking for people's light. What is it called,
Spencer (58:11.111)
Just snuff out their light and feel their last breath breathe into your own. Feel their last pulse beat along your fingertips.
Luciano (58:12.154)
Snuff their lights on.
Joel (58:13.999)
That's the life
Matt (58:17.042)
We all... Things... Stuff... Question... Hey,
Joel (58:22.603)
I'm missing that everybody wants.
Spencer (58:24.871)
It's as good a wand as anything else.
Matt (58:29.926)
Hey, god, how do we get out of this? Ooh, I know. Wait, Jodie was like, when she was talking about getting over a cold, she talked about banging a lot of dudes. And I want to know which dude that Jodie banged that got under cold skin the most. What pissed him off the
Luciano (58:31.725)
Joel (58:33.915)
better.
Joel (58:49.519)
Rainn Wilson.
Spencer (58:51.879)
I don't think he needs
Luciano (58:51.93)
Show your work!
Joel (58:58.299)
That's it. mean, mean, Colt is the long lost brother of John Krasinski, who is best friends with Rainn Wilson.
Spencer (58:58.919)
It's obvious.
Matt (59:11.1)
This feels like you projecting your love for Emily Blunt in a twisted way.
Spencer (59:12.985)
Yeah!
Luciano (59:13.018)
Yeah, a little bit, a little bit,
Spencer (59:18.343)
So when we kill John Krasinski, are we gonna feel his last heartbeat in our palm? As we stuff the life out of him and take his wife and his life?
Joel (59:18.361)
Yeah, is... The last heartbeat. Do we snuff him out?
Matt (59:29.842)
Legally, must say for this podcast that this is a disclaimer. This is comedy. This is just a joke. No one here is
Joel (59:32.8)
Your disclaimer.
Spencer (59:36.135)
Yeah, you say what you need to say, So far off the rails.
Joel (59:37.79)
It's a performance bit, yeah.
Joel (59:51.065)
Is this normally how this goes? this where these things are completely? This is going well.
Luciano (59:53.818)
This is actually, this is actually tame, yeah. Yeah. This is pretty tame.
Matt (59:53.938)
This is going well, actually. Yeah. Really well. This is the best we've ever done. Thank you for asking.
Spencer (59:55.163)
This is this is this is going well.
Well, we're not done yet.
Luciano (01:00:01.336)
Nobody talked about cocaine yet.
Yeah. Yeah.
Spencer (01:00:07.855)
I thought I was gonna say Tom Ryder, like was the person that she had slept with that upset him the most.
Luciano (01:00:09.198)
What was the question? right. Yeah. I was going to say Tom Ryder too, but that's
Joel (01:00:12.709)
What's that?
Spencer (01:00:15.745)
But I like Rainn Wilson. It tracks more story -wise.
Matt (01:00:19.666)
Sure. Well, and I don't think like she would bang Tom Ryder because like she doesn't like him anymore than yeah. Tom Cruise, is that an option?
Joel (01:00:25.178)
No.
Luciano (01:00:30.034)
I was going to say Henry, the other stuntman, just because he's like a straight replacement. I don't think Colt would be mad, exactly.
Spencer (01:00:30.128)
I think
Joel (01:00:35.707)
I think we're gonna say Henry Cavill. say I get that.
Matt (01:00:39.076)
and she no one would be jealous of that yeah props
Spencer (01:00:41.564)
I think Forrest Whitaker is the obvious choice.
Joel (01:00:44.121)
forest Whitaker like the crippled forest Whitaker
Luciano (01:00:44.57)
No, Forest Whitaker is Sol Gerrera.
Spencer (01:00:51.175)
Believe in the dream! Let's go after dinner! We'll get some spaghetti!
Joel (01:00:51.653)
Yeah.
Luciano (01:00:52.772)
Yeah
Matt (01:00:54.022)
LIFE! SUPTION!
Luciano (01:01:02.436)
That's pretty good. Let's see how long it takes until it becomes my cocaine.
Matt (01:01:06.77)
He there. He started in Michael Caine. It's too late.
Spencer (01:01:08.263)
No, when your muckle kite, when he gets loud, he gets very loud and tight. Then he gets quiet and he gets all broken up like this.
Joel (01:01:10.245)
My cooking
Luciano (01:01:13.306)
Hahaha!
Luciano (01:01:17.966)
Hahaha
Luciano (01:01:22.566)
And we're going to tell the Rickman
Matt (01:01:24.178)
And see
Spencer (01:01:28.337)
Don't forget the dream!
Luciano (01:01:30.296)
Hahaha!
Matt (01:01:31.388)
Different question Tom Rider famously Tom Rider we love him Tom Rider famously dies Hey, man, you wrote this question yourself handcrafted it I'm only asking what she wrote and we're gonna continue on Tom Rider couldn't replace by anybody he got replaced by Jason Momoa, but I want to know who else we could have replaced
Joel (01:01:35.643)
A lot of time writer questions.
Joel (01:01:39.909)
He's not even the star in this movie and you've got like ten questions.
Spencer (01:01:59.991)
I think Forrest Whitaker is the obvious answer.
Luciano (01:02:02.477)
I was, I
Joel (01:02:02.809)
I was gonna say Robert Downey Jr.
Luciano (01:02:05.944)
I was gonna say Gilbert Gottfried.
Spencer (01:02:08.679)
Welcome to Metalgasm! I... I died the same year as Glenn the writer!
Joel (01:02:09.243)
What are you now?
Matt (01:02:09.488)
Well, Glenn would have wrote that Glenn would approve because when Glenn was alive.
Luciano (01:02:10.19)
Listen, if Glenn would approve, Glenn would approve, yeah,
Joel (01:02:15.707)
I am better than that.
Luciano (01:02:16.666)
What is this with the cars and the jumping? I don't understand!
Joel (01:02:28.805)
Shockingly excellent Gilbert Godfrey rest in peace impressions by both of you.
Spencer (01:02:31.537)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Luciano (01:02:35.15)
We have experience. It's also in the blood. True, true, it's in the blood.
Matt (01:02:35.216)
Well, it's in their blood.
Spencer (01:02:36.967)
it's in the blood. Hey. But no, I think obviously, you know, that would actually work pretty good. But I think they wanted to go for like. That was I think that was I almost thought they were doing Matthew McConaughey impression like it was like. I mean,
Joel (01:02:37.56)
It's in their blood.
Matt (01:02:42.99)
Ew. Okay.
John Krasinski, Joel.
Luciano (01:02:50.126)
Yeah, actually it would work,
Joel (01:02:51.437)
It would actually, yeah, that would be good.
Luciano (01:02:55.418)
Matthew McConaghy, like the accent would be,
Luciano (01:03:03.756)
They tried, but there was no all right, so.
Matt (01:03:07.836)
Kevin Costner or is he too controlling?
Luciano (01:03:09.87)
He's too old.
Spencer (01:03:10.257)
Let's hear them. What about the Matthew McConaughey impression? Welcome. All right. All right. All right. This is metal. Gazzam. That's all I have.
Matt (01:03:12.097)
yeah.
Luciano (01:03:12.832)
was like, else do you wanna, I know who, Frank Sinatra.
Matt (01:03:14.967)
Sorry, Spencer. Sorry. We gotta go back to the Matthew McConaughey.
Joel (01:03:19.203)
Alright, alright, alright.
Matt (01:03:25.138)
That's what I like about them alien girls.
Joel (01:03:26.031)
Ha ha ha.
Joel (01:03:29.888)
I get older and they stay the same age.
Spencer (01:03:29.895)
They say the same species.
Matt (01:03:34.982)
Ha ha
Luciano (01:03:35.482)
Hey, if you wanted someone closer to Kevin Costner's age Tommy Lee Jones would be a good
Spencer (01:03:41.543)
Wait, what do you guys, this movie came out in 2024 with like the writer imagined. They're too old. You need like a young, I mean, Matthew McConaughey was obviously the perfect choice. I don't think you can top
Luciano (01:03:52.184)
Yeah, no, wait, wait, no, the perfect choice was Jason Momoa. It was, but if he couldn't have
Matt (01:03:53.414)
He's famously not too old.
Matt (01:04:02.866)
That's a fucking question guys.
Spencer (01:04:04.813)
Joel (01:04:05.403)
Is it Jason Momoa? mean, I feel like the rock is like interchangeable with Jason
Luciano (01:04:12.043)
Wow.
Spencer (01:04:12.423)
Nnnnn
Matt (01:04:15.484)
We here at, popcorn and vod holes don't endorse anything Joel says.
Luciano (01:04:17.496)
Yes.
Spencer (01:04:19.051)
Well, Joel, here's your crucial mistake here. The story of metalgasm is a romance. And the rock is famously asexual.
Joel (01:04:26.469)
Fair.
Luciano (01:04:26.495)
And the yeah, he
Matt (01:04:29.126)
We could replace the alien with Kevin Hart. Yeah. Joke, I said. All
Joel (01:04:32.239)
Kiff and
Luciano (01:04:32.954)
yeah, Kevin Hart. I'm in.
Spencer (01:04:34.319)
You know what? I like where we're going with this. And instead of an alien war, there are two police officers with opposite, it's a buddy cop film with, they're opposite personalities. He's tightly wound while the other one is aloof. he's an aloof cowboy and they're solving the crime of the missing maple syrup.
Joel (01:04:42.841)
It's a buddy cop,
Luciano (01:04:44.32)
vitriolic, vitriolic best buds.
Matt (01:04:52.944)
And also Anna cowboy and a loose cowboy.
Luciano (01:05:01.028)
You know who has a really good, a really good Southern American accent? Jason Statham. Be perfect for this.
Joel (01:05:02.064)
Wow.
Spencer (01:05:07.377)
Jason Statham would have been, God damn metalgasm.
Matt (01:05:10.544)
Well, I mean, we're going for delightful southern accents that make no sense and clearly James Bond is in the mix.
Luciano (01:05:10.67)
Hahaha!
Spencer (01:05:17.595)
Which one? Daniel Craig? yes. The Knives Out Man.
Joel (01:05:20.187)
Yeah, correct, yeah.
Luciano (01:05:23.588)
the knives out random like skipping state accent.
Spencer (01:05:27.429)
That's like, that's more like, like, I do declare, in this battle against the aliens, I say, we are going to win. we are going to win.
Luciano (01:05:32.408)
Yeah, yeah.
Joel (01:05:32.639)
What? Foghorn, leghorn?
Matt (01:05:32.73)
I'm not enough
Luciano (01:05:38.414)
He would demand suspenders for that.
Matt (01:05:41.584)
I'm not a big, bladed alien.
Spencer (01:05:42.759)
I'm no big city cowboy
Luciano (01:05:44.61)
Yeah, I'm not some big city cowboy. I'm just a country boy over here.
Spencer (01:05:52.069)
I'm just a small man from Missouri. Missouri. I put my sugar in my tea one cube at a time. I'll tell you what.
Luciano (01:05:55.418)
Mzr, mzr. No vowels, no vowels in that word.
Matt (01:05:57.266)
was
Joel (01:06:04.751)
This thing, this has definitely gone off the rails and maybe plunging over a bridge.
Spencer (01:06:08.241)
Yes.
Matt (01:06:08.558)
No, we don't do that here. Hey, different question, Joel. Great. So that's great. That's your answer. Now we're to fit the question. What? No, no, that's the answer for the next question. You fucked up. So what are the commands Jean -Claude respond to? You said Nicholas Cage. So what does Jean -Claude do when you say Nicholas Cage?
Joel (01:06:10.509)
Nicolas Cage, no, before you go, Nicolas Cage. That's it, moving
Luciano (01:06:12.474)
that'd be good. Nicholas Cage would be great.
Joel (01:06:19.791)
Okay, Nicholas Cage, sure, I'm
Spencer (01:06:26.183)
When you say
Joel (01:06:30.343)
my goodness. le chien, il tire le visage de notre chien. So he tears the face of another dog, switches it
Spencer (01:06:30.501)
and you have to say
Spencer (01:06:41.536)
yeah.
Matt (01:06:43.634)
Okay. Wow. Face off.
Luciano (01:06:43.77)
nice, yeah, yeah. And he brings, so that command is like, it's not only tearing the face off, it's bringing it back to whoever gave the order.
Spencer (01:06:49.317)
I see
Spencer (01:06:54.841)
No, when you say Nicolas Cage, the dog tears the face of another dog and switches its face with the dog's face. Sorry,
Luciano (01:07:00.41)
I see. It's a disguise command. Yeah. It's
Joel (01:07:00.923)
Obviously. Obviously.
Matt (01:07:01.618)
was implied, Spencer. Obviously that's what happened.
Yeah, great job. Great work, Joel.
Luciano (01:07:12.6)
hahahaha
Spencer (01:07:13.797)
I don't know how to say off -french.
Matt (01:07:17.17)
No, that's that's I'm sure no fast mustard
Luciano (01:07:17.902)
I another command he has is le curse de Quebecois in which he bites someone and that person has the worst Quebecois accent ever. That's another command for sure.
Joel (01:07:20.591)
Let me see.
Spencer (01:07:24.823)
of course.
Matt (01:07:30.738)
So none, but just a little, sorry silly, do you know all the commands?
Joel (01:07:31.803)
Celine Dion
Luciano (01:07:33.914)
Another command all the commands are famous people
Joel (01:07:37.093)
Yeah
Matt (01:07:39.479)
Yeah, the George Saphir, that's the lady, y 'all.
Joel (01:07:40.187)
Rush was in
Spencer (01:07:42.881)
Well, yeah.
Matt (01:07:47.026)
Is the Jean Claude Van Damme count?
Luciano (01:07:50.83)
Yes, the dog does the splits when you,
Joel (01:07:51.867)
Sure, why not?
Spencer (01:07:53.851)
Yeah. And, kick someone and punch someone in the nuts.
Matt (01:07:58.13)
Obviously.
Luciano (01:07:58.164)
That's the Johnny Cage. Not to be confused with the Nicolas Cage. That poor dog.
Spencer (01:08:03.463)
Sometimes the dog will rip a face off and split and punch someone in the nuts because he's confused.
Matt (01:08:05.251)
confused as
Luciano (01:08:08.196)
Punch someone in the nuts,
Matt (01:08:11.634)
That's half of them. All right. I think we've nailed this one. Moving on to a completely unrelated question. All right. So here we are. The studio is dead set on a sequel to Metal Storm 2 or Metal Chasm
Luciano (01:08:28.378)
Wait, they're set on a sequel to Metal Gasm 2?
Matt (01:08:32.453)
Yeah, so it's three.
Luciano (01:08:33.498)
Okay, carry on just just getting my parameters go carry on
Matt (01:08:35.772)
Whoa!
What is Metal Gazin' 3 about?
Joel (01:08:42.66)
I guess.
Spencer (01:08:43.367)
First of all, it's called Metal Storm Part 3 The Gazaming.
So that, we gotta clear that
Luciano (01:08:50.17)
No, it's Metal Storm 3 Metalgasm The Curse of Santana. That's the name of the...
Spencer (01:08:56.871)
Well, where did we leave off at the end of this movie at end of the movie the cowboy humans
Joel (01:08:57.179)
person said Tana.
Spencer (01:09:07.239)
teamed up with the love interest, the Eliana.
Luciano (01:09:12.615)
I don't think that that was the name. That was just Emily Blunt's character being horrendously passive aggressive with Colt. But yeah, carry
Joel (01:09:15.609)
That sounds good
Spencer (01:09:15.719)
Like a placeholder.
Spencer (01:09:22.503)
And their love united their races to fight against a third alien race, I believe?
Luciano (01:09:26.638)
Mm -hmm.
Luciano (01:09:30.98)
That is also, there you go.
Joel (01:09:32.411)
Take care, bye -bye.
Spencer (01:09:34.211)
Obvious. They were invaded by the Quebecois.
Joel (01:09:35.195)
That's what we tell the Kid McQuaid back in.
Luciano (01:09:40.386)
Where? Where?
Joel (01:09:40.687)
Why?
Spencer (01:09:51.719)
So that's where it left off and they won the war, obviously. And in part two, that's when they weaponized orgasms.
Luciano (01:10:07.492)
Wait, that's why it's called metalgasm. That makes sense.
Spencer (01:10:09.828)
Yes.
Joel (01:10:12.048)
That was their secret weapon against the Quebecois, to weaponize orgasms.
Matt (01:10:16.414)
So just so I understand so metal storm one metal storm two metalgasm Metal storm three just thegasm was that what I
Luciano (01:10:27.79)
No, it's Maddo Gazan, The Curse of Santana.
Matt (01:10:30.972)
My bad, sorry, thank you for clarifying. That's it, that's all my questions, continue on.
Spencer (01:10:36.817)
No, I mean, after the second one was all about the weaponizing of the gas.
Matt (01:10:43.238)
Right, famously.
Spencer (01:10:44.753)
And that opened up the door, which Joel will take explain the part three. So let me just set you up Joel. After they weaponized the orgasm, they and go.
Joel (01:10:50.477)
No! Just throw me under the bus here.
Luciano (01:10:51.498)
Wow. I fucking didn't. I did not know there was a TTC stop this close to this podcast.
Matt (01:10:54.47)
Hey man, you got the Kavacaw ideal, I think
Joel (01:10:56.303)
No!
Joel (01:11:01.947)
Wow, wow.
Joel (01:11:10.395)
They weaponized the gasming.
Luciano (01:11:11.659)
Hahaha!
Matt (01:11:14.608)
Just remember, yes and, just yes and, keep it rolling.
Joel (01:11:16.736)
Yeah, that's never been truer. You know, they went and they were finding Nicolas Cage looking for treasure.
Spencer (01:11:27.238)
Yes.
Joel (01:11:29.787)
And the declaration of Quebec independence. They wanted to separate from Canada again. Finally!
Luciano (01:11:30.562)
Declaration of Independence of Quebec.
Luciano (01:11:36.034)
Exactly.
Spencer (01:11:37.255)
The long lost documents.
Luciano (01:11:39.895)
They finally got it.
Matt (01:11:44.338)
Sorry. Okay, so who's opposed Jean -Claude Crachet opposing this?
Spencer (01:11:47.879)
No, this is as this is present day
Joel (01:11:52.885)
It's this part. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Matt (01:11:55.43)
How does this relate to the space epic? Quebec isn't like Quebec is a planet, right?
Luciano (01:12:02.692)
Yeah, Kevin Durant's the president.
Joel (01:12:02.927)
Quebec has separated to become a planet and this is now, they've now found the original declaration of Quebec independence where they separated, they just broke off of the earth. Sounds totally illogical. I mean, we're in this deep, just keep going with
Spencer (01:12:14.679)
Like they physically separated once they have the documents. just had to... They just...
Matt (01:12:16.508)
Yeah. Yes, Sam.
Luciano (01:12:24.036)
Well, no, it's because so they found the document, the Declaration of Quebec Line Independence. And in the back, there was instructions on how to eject GS Quebec from the earth and make its own. Yeah. yeah, exactly. I see. I see. It was part of the mechanism. Famously, contracts execute things.
Spencer (01:12:35.153)
thought it just happened upon signing. It was in the contract.
Joel (01:12:43.375)
Ahem.
Matt (01:12:46.14)
Yeah. So anyways, that's like. So that is just like the flashback open sequence. So continue with the rest of the movie, Joel.
Joel (01:12:46.971)
That's in Lee Majors.
Spencer (01:12:53.415)
Of course.
And you too could pay to be on this podcast for the right price.
Joel (01:13:00.539)
Wow, okay
Ahem.
Luciano (01:13:05.722)
Hahaha!
Joel (01:13:08.461)
You it's priceless. You cannot pay enough to be on this podcast
Okay, so Quebec has been ejected.
Spencer (01:13:21.563)
Let me let me help you out here. But part of the contract and this is the weaponizing of the gas is they couldn't orgasm once they separated from Earth. So it was almost none of them know it was a. Yeah, it was sort of like a. That was the plan.
Joel (01:13:23.075)
Yeah, okay, got
Joel (01:13:31.461)
They, none of them, none of their citizens, good orgasm. Wow. That's harsh.
their population would die out. That would be it. So that was the, yeah.
Luciano (01:13:39.938)
No, no, they just, no, they could still reproduce it, just no orgasm. It was just like, yeah. True, true. No pleasure, just responsibility.
Matt (01:13:44.53)
Yeah, as the Catholics intended.
Spencer (01:13:48.431)
Yeah, it's all. Yes. And that is where the space cowboy comes in. And he.
Joel (01:13:50.027)
What?
Joel (01:13:59.951)
because the injustice of not being able to
Spencer (01:14:03.877)
Yeah, well, he's powered by orgasms. And famously so. Projecting himself.
Matt (01:14:07.644)
famously.
Luciano (01:14:08.828)
He flies through space by orgasm. Orgasm, yeah. Yes, exactly.
Joel (01:14:15.649)
Wow, this is something.
Spencer (01:14:17.989)
Yeah, we're there. We're so close. We're so close. And he has to show them the true power of love, which is why he needed to bring his wife, Eliana, and he had to show them a true orgasm.
Spencer (01:14:37.563)
and that inspired them. I mean, I think it writes itself.
Joel (01:14:38.221)
I mean I couldn't have said it better
I mean, I mean, Glenn would be rolling over in his grave in celebration, in celebration of this such a fantastic, plot for
Matt (01:14:43.173)
Yeah, clearly.
Spencer (01:14:46.055)
This was... Yeah...
Matt (01:14:47.698)
It excites me exactly. He's so excited.
Luciano (01:14:50.988)
He'd be dancing in his grave.
Spencer (01:14:53.826)
This was his vision.
Joel (01:14:55.471)
This was his vision and that's why he was murdered.
Spencer (01:14:57.639)
They couldn't let it happen.
Matt (01:14:57.798)
Yeah, the first...
Luciano (01:15:01.176)
I bet tracks.
Matt (01:15:03.41)
Surely does. Unpresent. All right. Well, we can't go any further on this topic. We've got to the heart of the matter. Yeah.
Luciano (01:15:05.306)
Hahaha!
Luciano (01:15:10.446)
No, it's perfect. We've nailed it, as usual.
Spencer (01:15:14.299)
It was the first movie to be banned from all theaters and rentals.
Joel (01:15:17.377)
Yeah.
Matt (01:15:20.346)
Not just from the earth, but they preemptively bend the
Spencer (01:15:21.511)
Much like the film, it was separated from this earth.
Luciano (01:15:21.758)
Yeah, exactly. As Quebec ejected, they tossed copies of this movie out.
Joel (01:15:22.767)
Haha, premium
Spencer (01:15:30.406)
I
Matt (01:15:31.088)
Yeah. Hey, why, why does everybody see unicorn when they do the drug in this
Spencer (01:15:43.003)
Yeah, because it's not like because he says you're what you're going to see it. He's like, once you see the unicorn. Doesn't sound like a drug to
Matt (01:15:47.152)
And once it goes away, you're good.
Luciano (01:15:52.506)
Sounds like it opened his eyes to the
Joel (01:15:54.235)
It's like a children's book.
Spencer (01:15:55.185)
Yeah, it's like shared. It's almost like a shared hallucination shared. You know, psychotic break, if you will.
Luciano (01:16:07.084)
I Not what I thought you were going with this, but carry on.
Spencer (01:16:10.823)
So the only thing that can induce that kind of psychotic break is reading the script to Metastorm 3. So I believe that was somewhere, somewhere inside that drink.
Matt (01:16:24.818)
Spencer, can you see a unicorn right now?
Spencer (01:16:26.407)
But you guys don't see it? Okay, then we're on the same page.
Joel (01:16:29.115)
Mwahahah
Matt (01:16:29.776)
I'm just asking you, I didn't say don't see
Luciano (01:16:34.619)
As long as you're not seeing a unicorn when you look in the mirror like he did, you should be
Spencer (01:16:40.196)
I mean, my guess is the drug was...
bead and mixed with cocaine obviously.
Luciano (01:16:50.318)
Horse hooves. Horse hooves.
Joel (01:16:52.131)
I obviously, I thought we were avoiding cocaine, though. Did you specifically? okay. We hadn't talked about it. Okay, okay. I misunderstood
Luciano (01:16:55.106)
No, I just said we hadn't talked about cocaine yet. Yeah,
Spencer (01:16:55.311)
No, we said we
Matt (01:16:59.152)
I don't care what the drug is made of. Yes, it's clearly methamphetamines and cocaine. I want to know why everybody sees the unicorn until they're off
Spencer (01:17:02.362)
right.
Luciano (01:17:10.348)
I said it's mixed with horse hooves like ground horse hooves. That's why. So they see unicorns.
Spencer (01:17:17.211)
What you guys never, what you guys never.
Matt (01:17:17.733)
Is it fine?
Joel (01:17:18.681)
I thought it was a subtle My Little Pony product placement or cross promotion.
Spencer (01:17:24.207)
No, the horse hooves are in the drugs. Wait, you guys never done horse hooves?
Matt (01:17:24.636)
See? Chalk gets
Yeah, but they're... No, but Spencer, Spencer, they're all... Every drug is branded My Little Pony names.
Joel (01:17:31.813)
Ha
Luciano (01:17:32.006)
Hahaha!
Luciano (01:17:37.018)
I see. This one was Rainbow
Spencer (01:17:38.225)
So is this clapper?
Matt (01:17:41.818)
Listen, that's all, that Rainbow Sparkle is the only melloponely name I know. So we've exhausted our knowledge
Luciano (01:17:46.966)
Yeah, same.
Spencer (01:17:49.071)
Wait, you don't know clip
Joel (01:17:49.081)
I'm shocked that you guys know that
Clop!
Matt (01:17:53.97)
That doesn't sound official.
Luciano (01:17:56.698)
Clip Clop is the only My Little Pony character who's a donkey. That's what that is.
Joel (01:17:56.827)
Flip Club.
Spencer (01:17:57.058)
What do mean?
No.
Matt (01:18:01.842)
No, that's fair. No, thank you for that. We're going to move on. One final question
How does this like, it's Gale. They started with just being like the heavies who kind of are chasing around cults either. And then they turn out to be a private contract like military full blown militia. I just want to know like everybody on set famously is unionized. So if they came on set, what union are they part of? And maybe like how, how do they gain membership to that
Luciano (01:18:23.556)
Like a football militia.
Joel (01:18:25.507)
Yeah.
Joel (01:18:38.435)
I mean, it's Teamsters. Obviously, Teamsters. I mean, the Teamsters are an aggressive paramilitary organization that are slowly infiltrating every aspect of American life, famously.
Matt (01:18:41.008)
mean, the story checks
Luciano (01:18:42.318)
Now obviously...
Luciano (01:18:49.24)
Hahaha!
Matt (01:18:49.334)
Hahaha!
Famously.
Spencer (01:18:53.467)
Whoa, I didn't know we had a scab on here.
Luciano (01:18:54.286)
famously I I was gonna say I didn't know what when did this become the RNC like what the fuck is going on
Spencer (01:19:02.612)
I don't know much about Union so I'm just gonna say Union Jack.
Joel (01:19:06.387)
Union
Luciano (01:19:06.996)
no.
Spencer (01:19:08.347)
that make sense?
Matt (01:19:08.818)
No, no, that's that was a little too Luciano -y for a joke. You might want to try
Luciano (01:19:11.012)
That... What? The fuck? How did I get splash damage in this? No, I don't actually. Not this time anyway.
Spencer (01:19:13.371)
Okay. Okay.
Matt (01:19:17.754)
You know what you did.
Matt (01:19:22.448)
Exactly.
Spencer (01:19:24.127)
I mean, yeah, I, I think they are a, in the military union. I pass. I genuinely don't know how unions work. I don't know how unions work. Okay.
Matt (01:19:34.29)
Jesus Christ Spencer.
Luciano (01:19:39.108)
They're in the state of the union. That has the union on
Matt (01:19:43.952)
You're in Jack -O' -Lantern, boy.
Spencer (01:19:44.262)
There we go.
Joel (01:19:45.285)
wow, wow. I can see your point about.
Matt (01:19:49.862)
Anyways, Lucio. Lucio, how are
Luciano (01:19:49.912)
You know what? I'm not going to answer this question. It's dumb.
Matt (01:19:54.492)
That's You made it.
Spencer (01:19:55.367)
You know what? 10 points to Gryffindor.
Joel (01:19:56.067)
Is it you can just do that? You mean I had that option earlier?
Luciano (01:19:59.162)
No, in fact, I think this is the first time we've ever used that option.
Matt (01:20:03.89)
I'm gonna allow it, I appreciate the... It was the right move after the last three answers, clearly.
Spencer (01:20:08.039)
I do wish I could have given that answer.
Matt (01:20:13.298)
It was the only way out, you found it. Congratulations.
Joel (01:20:15.887)
Knowing this, would gladly pay another charity to join this podcast.
Spencer (01:20:19.08)
Yeah. The only way to win is not to play.
Luciano (01:20:19.898)
Just to say, no, the question is the next. Yeah.
Joel (01:20:22.159)
Yeah, that question is stupid, I'm out.
Matt (01:20:27.984)
Yeah. Thank you for playing the game. But really, that's all the questions we have. Let's do our reviews. We famously use the S tier system. S is the highest. F is the lowest. Generally, we're talking like a Morbius or a Madame Web, unless you're Chris. Who the hell knows? Yeah, that's confusing. Anyways, Spencer, why don't you go first?
Luciano (01:20:50.392)
in Godzilla.
Spencer (01:20:57.743)
yeah, the, certainly, this movie, well, I said, certainly, the, movie was, lived up to Glenn's vision. I would say. I think that it was a very solid movie. It was a lot sillier than I thought it would be. And I think the third act it pushed.
Luciano (01:21:03.514)
He's falling apart. He's fucking falling apart.
Joel (01:21:05.09)
Ha ha ha!
Spencer (01:21:27.173)
that boundaries of silliness a little too far and it got a little too stupid in the final act. But throughout the whole thing, it was pretty enjoyable and I thought it was quite a fun flick. give it, I'm torn between two and you know which two. I'm gonna go with the C. Almost a B
Matt (01:21:50.844)
That's fair.
Almost great. Good talk. No one cares. Lucia.
Spencer (01:21:57.578)
You asked for it!
Luciano (01:21:58.798)
Jesus Christ. I had fun. thought I was going to be watching, I think the same as Spencer. I thought I I went in thinking this was a much more serious movie, but it didn't bother me. It was fun. Even the plot hole, like after it was clear, like after the movie called attention to its own plot hole, I was like,
But even then, it was fun. I really loved the visual gags of having movie stuff happening. And even the stinger and the credits showing the actual stunts of the actual movie. It was really fun. I think I actually would watch it again. I think Joel said it in the beginning, it's one of those movies where you don't have to invest too much into it. You just watch it for the fun. I think I'd give it a B.
solid fun flick.
Matt (01:22:56.995)
Wow.
Solid B. Interesting choice. Joel, do
Luciano (01:23:02.255)
Yeah.
Spencer (01:23:03.943)
think that's the first time Luciano gave a higher score than
Joel (01:23:05.271)
I feel like a B for Emily Blunt. mean, it's worth it, a B just for her. But, I mean...
Luciano (01:23:11.843)
Hahaha
Matt (01:23:12.306)
Jesus.
Spencer (01:23:13.479)
You want to be from her
Joel (01:23:14.907)
Could it be a C for Clip Clop or Nicolas Cage? Now I thought the movie was entertaining. It was light -hearted. Obviously, you didn't need to invest too much thought into it. I thought it was well -written in terms of what you expected from a movie like that. So yeah, I give it a B. It was enjoyable.
And yeah, I watched it again. was surprising. I didn't really know much about it, but sitting around watching it, I thought I came out of it thinking it was a good use of two hours of my time.
Matt (01:23:51.822)
Hey, what was your wife have given
Joel (01:23:55.419)
I think she enjoyed it. Maybe not for the same reasons I did, I feel like she would have given it a
Spencer (01:23:59.687)
For the same reasons but for Ryan Gosling.
Luciano (01:24:01.976)
Hahaha!
Matt (01:24:05.074)
Wasn't Emily blunt?
Joel (01:24:07.771)
Yeah, Ryan Blasling. That's right. Okay,
Matt (01:24:11.952)
Yeah, like I famously tried. We tried. You failed. But that's OK.
Luciano (01:24:14.661)
You tried.
Spencer (01:24:16.315)
He's just jealous because he was kissing this girl.
Luciano (01:24:19.701)
Hahaha!
Matt (01:24:23.138)
we're gonna move past that quickly. I would give this movie a C, basically for what Spencer said. Well, you're stupid. there you go. Nice try. said it first. fun movie. Had a good time. Enjoyed the stunts, the action sequences generally. I think they were creative. I like the drug fight scene. and the movie had enough twists to
Joel (01:24:28.165)
That's stupid. You're
Spencer (01:24:31.719)
Fight! Fight!
Matt (01:24:49.722)
it kind of just subverted your expectations enough that it was fun.
Joel (01:24:53.571)
Man, so why did you get to see it? It sounds like you really liked it. So why see?
Matt (01:24:58.288)
I gave it a C because I hate having to be blunt and I want your life to be filled with pain.
Joel (01:25:02.843)
Hahaha
Luciano (01:25:04.334)
Wow, I thought you were just gonna say I gave it a C because I couldn't agree with my brother, but you know, go off.
Spencer (01:25:05.073)
Sounds like you wanna go kill people with me later.
Joel (01:25:06.28)
as well, okay.
Spencer (01:25:09.593)
Mm -hmm.
Matt (01:25:10.29)
I said the same thing!
Matt (01:25:16.658)
yeah, so see
Spencer (01:25:16.955)
Well, you yeah, we agreed. So who wants to come to a Matt and Joel and I are going to go to the pier. Maybe we'll run into Luciano. If we'll find you. You'll be under the pier soon enough.
Matt (01:25:20.508)
See ya soon, we'll see Spencer on the pier.
Luciano (01:25:23.086)
Hahaha!
Joel (01:25:23.227)
Hahaha!
Joel (01:25:28.152)
Ha ha ha!
Matt (01:25:29.766)
Maybe. Well, not for long anyways.
Luciano (01:25:30.296)
I won't be on the pier.
Luciano (01:25:34.746)
I'll be on the pier for a little bit and then under the pier for a long time.
Matt (01:25:42.29)
Bye. Listen, if you enjoyed this, then you're a sick sociopath. But next week, we're going to do it again. And next week, we are watching the aforementioned Fiorosa.
Luciano (01:25:47.801)
Hahaha!
Spencer (01:25:54.215)
shit, I see that was a little teaser.
Matt (01:25:57.104)
Is it just Fiori says or any other
Luciano (01:25:58.648)
It's Furiosa, a Mad Max story or something like that. Saga.
Spencer (01:26:00.679)
Mad Max Saga?
Matt (01:26:03.164)
Saga. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. When we both say saga, prequel. It's a prequel.
Luciano (01:26:10.916)
Yes. it's the prequel.
Matt (01:26:14.414)
Anya Taylor -Joy plays Furiosa. Satoshi became whatever.
Luciano (01:26:21.658)
That's how she became however, whatever Thing shit happens and then stuff happens and then that's
Spencer (01:26:21.936)
What?
Matt (01:26:25.783)
Yeah, I don't know man.
Joel (01:26:27.906)
browser preventing recording.
Matt (01:26:34.054)
We'll know. Are we recording? Let's pause here for a second. Hey, Joel. Refresh your page. As as the thing says.
Matt (01:26:48.892)
Honestly surprised we didn't get more problems till now.
Luciano (01:26:54.776)
right at the end
Matt (01:26:58.66)
I mean, maybe the laptop only has extra. Yeah.
Luciano (01:26:59.578)
What happened? Stopped uploading?
Spencer (01:27:02.631)
Is he your older brother or younger brother?
Matt (01:27:05.95)
That is the riddle, what's your answer?
Spencer (01:27:08.551)
I would have said older.
Joel (01:27:09.048)
There we
Luciano (01:27:09.826)
I mean, I know it's older, so
Matt (01:27:11.899)
He knows where.
Spencer (01:27:12.667)
I would have guessed older, even though he has his hair.
Matt (01:27:16.102)
Wow, what the fuck does that mean?
Joel (01:27:17.006)
so you're so insecure you have to ask who's older and who's younger?
Matt (01:27:21.606)
Well, he was asking if you're older or younger, so I just wanted to see what I'm guessed. Why would I give a fuck? I'm clearly younger and. Yeah, listen, age wise, I'm younger body wise, based on all the things that are happening inside of me, definitely older. No hair, Crohn's disease, I am not doing well. I want to go back to just before I we stop recording.
Joel (01:27:23.438)
okay. I thought you would ask that
Spencer (01:27:25.895)
No, I asked.
Joel (01:27:28.012)
Well, that's what I said. I realized you have lot of insecurities. I just surprised you would have left them out to your friends.
Joel (01:27:38.303)
Yeah
Luciano (01:27:38.97)
Hahaha!
Spencer (01:27:42.673)
soul wise body count.
Matt (01:27:51.194)
and Joel's uploading and so I'm just gonna rewind back to jumping to Furiosa. We're gonna start over from the top, same jokes, gonna do the exact same podcast. Yeah, don't fuck it up. Yeah, so let me give it a few seconds and then I'll just jump back into it, we're watching Furiosa.
Spencer (01:27:54.395)
Yeah, we're gonna have to start from the top, Joel.
Joel (01:27:57.164)
We're just rerecording here we go after two hours worth Okay, here we
Luciano (01:27:57.4)
Hahaha!
Spencer (01:28:03.995)
Yeah.
Luciano (01:28:05.924)
Hope you remember everything you said.
Matt (01:28:21.134)
So yeah, if you like this, idiot, join us next week and we're gonna watch... well, two.
Luciano (01:28:26.116)
Jesus, you're making me why we only have three subscribers.
Joel (01:28:30.606)
You have three subscribers I paid money like Hundreds of thousands of dollars to a charity maybe hundreds of dollars lately to for three subscribers
Luciano (01:28:37.294)
Yeah. Yes. You've been bamboozled. Yeah. No, we don't. We have three.
Matt (01:28:38.77)
Thank you.
Spencer (01:28:40.899)
No, we have more than that. We have at least
Matt (01:28:42.652)
week. Do you subscribe, Joe?
Joel (01:28:46.59)
No one after listening to this, being a part it, I will not be.
Spencer (01:28:47.761)
Hehehehehe
Matt (01:28:49.426)
So there's your answer. But we are watching Furiosa. Which, has... What the fuck, Joel?
Luciano (01:28:59.673)
Again?
Joel (01:28:59.746)
Yeah, I'm here. I'm good. It's uploading. I'm
Matt (01:29:01.468)
but it's uploading.
If this is happening, you're feeling like the cache on either your browser or whatever is full. I would have thought we could dump close. So yeah, let's try you closing the browser entirely and coming back in if you just refresh last time. It's it's preventing your recording, but I feel like it may be doozy or not. Like it's on your end, not because it doesn't record server side. It records on your laptop and then uploads.
Luciano (01:29:12.378)
Could have been the hard drive.
Joel (01:29:20.533)
is it saying I have a problem? It's saying, okay.
Joel (01:29:31.886)
Sure, blame me.
Matt (01:29:34.011)
That's fair. Yeah. Yeah. Fuck you.
Spencer (01:29:41.275)
Ha ha ha.
Joel (01:30:04.482)
And I am back. I was gonna say, you got three subscribers. mean, I think based on my incredible performance here, you might lose a subscriber. I'm not sure.
Matt (01:30:14.512)
Well, one of us doesn't subscribe normally, so...
Matt (01:30:20.592)
Spencer, but he keeps showing
Luciano (01:30:23.444)
Hahaha!
Spencer (01:30:25.091)
If I'm not subscribed, I don't know how
Spencer (01:30:32.913)
When it comes up in my feed.
Luciano (01:30:36.089)
I think it's Chris.
Spencer (01:30:39.234)
That's not a good look.
Matt (01:30:41.946)
Anyways, let's try this one more time.
Matt (01:30:49.206)
If you somehow enjoyed this insanity, which God knows why you would do that. We're doing this again next week and we are going to watch Furiosa, a Mad Max something?
Luciano (01:31:02.66)

Spencer (01:31:07.205)
Mad Max product.
Matt (01:31:09.264)
Mad Max thing. Joel, it sounds like you're not joining us next week. Is that true?
Spencer (01:31:15.751)

Joel (01:31:16.802)

Matt (01:31:25.961)
Will you pay to charity every time to join us?
Joel (01:31:29.38)
I
Spencer (01:31:29.991)
Well, you can just pay us directly. Yeah, we
Luciano (01:31:31.032)
I think that's fair.
Joel (01:31:32.97)
Just pay you directly. I feel like I'll take my chances on the charity Based on three subscribers, you're absolutely
Spencer (01:31:37.959)
Well, paying us kind of is a charity.
Luciano (01:31:41.21)
of a different kind and you can't take it out of your taxes but
Matt (01:31:42.128)
Right?
Joel (01:31:50.712)
Why do I the CRA hasn't heard of this popcorn and plot holes podcast?
Luciano (01:31:57.39)
I don't think we've heard of
Matt (01:31:57.778)
I mean, they've heard of us.
Joel (01:31:59.542)
Hahaha
Matt (01:32:03.266)
100%. But yeah, we're going to watch for your essay. We're going to talk about Mad Max. Someone here famously, actually famously hates Fury Road because he's wrong. How about life?
Luciano (01:32:13.995)
I don't I don't hate it. Just don't see what the hype is all about. yeah, I always do Yeah, I've made my peace with it
Joel (01:32:16.333)
I was going to ask but clearly he outed himself.
Matt (01:32:19.159)
How is this? You know who he is.
Matt (01:32:26.15)
Yeah, next week. Next week, Tom Hardy vehicle.
Joel (01:32:26.734)

Spencer (01:32:30.523)
I don't think he's in it. Yeah, I was going to say.
Luciano (01:32:30.573)
I will break you.
Matt (01:32:32.054)
She's definitely not. Tom Hardy vehicle, Furiosa of Mad Max story. Yeah. Yeah, I got the joke. Thanks.
Luciano (01:32:38.667)
the Charlize Theron and yeah,
Spencer (01:32:43.377)
Perfect.
Luciano (01:32:45.949)
it was a joke? Do you know those are meant to be funny?
Spencer (01:32:49.959)
Thanks for joining us here on Whatever This Is.
Joel (01:32:51.229)
I'm just going say this is where it just evolves.
Luciano (01:32:51.475)
Hahaha!
